Hybrid Members plz...Civic or Prius?.....need suggestion

Salam,
m thinking of switching to hybrid car but confused between HYBRID CIVIC and PRIUS so if any member owns or have experience related the Hybrid models so please give your valuable suggestion regarding
1. mileage local and highway
2. comfort
3. reliability
4. how to keep for long time
4. parts availability and resale ..etc...

If u want a car as a HYBRID then always prius.

Civic is hybrid k naam pr dhabba.

It gives mileages no more than 14KPL...

on the other hand, Prius will make you feel its a hybrid.

I have heard that Prius is the best,, better than reborn hybird,
and prius's milage is also great, I think 18km/L (don't know exactly!)

Go for prius.It is becoming popular in Pakistan day by day so parts would be no problem after some months.
Although civic is also good but if we compare fuel economy the surely prius is winner with a huge margin.

its not parts that are a problem, its the mechanics who will be repairing them, e.g. the transmission uses 2 motor generators to drive the car and MG2 usually fails - the winding burns out which causes the car to be undriveable even on the petrol engine.

If the MG1 fails the engine cannot start as its the starter motor too. The engine itself is a very lightweight atkinson cycle engine which is not a regular engine. The high voltage transformer module is cooled by coolant - and if you choose to use water and it corrodes you are screwed in every single sense known to man. 600V traction battery can KILL YOU.

So be wary when buying such a car, it has technology that is still completely alien to Pakistan, and requires special training and part supplies to correctly function. No ustaad/shaagird/junkyard methodology works

I agree with xulfiqar. However if you r determined to buy a hybrid and want good mileage, then go for toyota prius.

I have driven this beauty, it is a real pleasure drive. It gives 25 km / ltr. One of the PW has recently bought this.

a good tune oldschool small diesel in a small car can do 20 km/lit easily, the nissan CD17 can do it in a sunny sedan. Hybrid cars are just a hype for markets who trash cars every 5 years - markets where cars are never devalued (like Pakistan) hybrids do not make sense because at some point in time you need to change the batteries or do some repairs which completely offset the savings of driving it.

But our mentality is bit different. We keep driving uncomfortable mehran for the sake of Rs.70 to 75k, which we intend to save on resale of that dabba.

Civic Hybrid makes more sense; any time in future if something goes wrong; you will have at least choice to swap the hybrid system with R18?

Then why buy hybrid in first place if thats ur concern.Buy a R18 and run it instead of buying an old hybrid with danger of something goes wrong.
The cost of swapping R18 will be no less than 3lakhs that too i think will not be possible due to electric motors,batteries and transmission of hybrid.

@topic If hybrid is requirement then no thing comes close to Prius ,its the best selling hybrid Car in the world with the highest average from a hybrid

bro those were some good old days ....today u have no good car under 20 which gives u luxury nd milage both
it depends on how much u drive per day ...my toyota gli 1.3 drinks abt 1500-2000 petrol daily kehnae ko asan hai but when money goes out of ur pocket tb pta chalta hai
toyota gives a max average of 11-12 no mtr how u drive

bro if going for hybrid nd its ur first experience close ur eyes nd get ur hands on some good prius
have driven both nd kept prius sold it nd nw other prius is on way
prius tanks almost get full in 4500-5000 nd in tht in city with ac it gives u around 1000-1100 kms wht else u need?corolla gets full for around 5500 nd gve maximum 500 kms in it dt even driving it slw

prius has a great room no mater front or back
prius is literally a hot cake in market seeing the prices of petrol
maintainence is the only thing..oil chnge on time etc
parts are available nd resale is easy too

nd ppl leme clearify u abt the batteries they dnt gve prblm for atleast 500000 kms . nd still if a prblm arises after 5 lac kms u can get btry by imprtng it which cost min 40 thousand max 60 thousand

calculate the benefit prius gives u

i took it too 175 nd beleive me it was muchhh btr thn an altis/city/gli

sorry bro no matter wht u said is rite but pakistan b taraki kr rha hai yahan b prhae likhae mechanic hain no doubt less but there r ppl who know well how to repair the hybrid cars

Hybrid car are cars which run on battery with out petrol at the speed of 60 km once increase speed from 60 km it will start consuming petrol...

ok next is which is better.

i came tio know that prius is doing 25 km per litre..

but after 4 lac millage u need to replace batteries.
