On highways extreme lanes can puddle water. Reason being mostly vehicles remain in these. The repeated use cause these lanes in depression. Resulting in puddling. The dangerous part is that if you are in overtaking lane and you lose control. Allah mafi. day. . The central barrier will be hit or one can slip in the oncoming traffic from opposite side. As far as I remember the M2 or M1 or for that reason M3 lacks certain road signs. May be NHMP distribute pamphlets on entry exit on rainy days.. In URDU..

I experienced it only once but scared me to death! i was doing 120 on motorway. was overtaking a car, it had just stopped raining and i could not see that the whole of the overtaking lane was full of water for a good 50ft or so. when i hit the patch, i splashed water like 15ft high on either side, almost blinding the poor driver to my left and damaging my water splash fender sheets i tried to turn back to the center lane but the car didnt respond at all for like 1-1.5 seconds. it felt like i ve lost steering control over the car. as soon as the patch ended, the car suddenly turned to the center lane. i slowed down to 80kmph just to THINK what had happened to me. my heart beat had increased n that driver on my left overtook me, giving me angry looks

Just took this picture. All tires here either shows an arrow so that when it is mounted on the rim it should follow the arrow direction in motion. " anti-clockwise, some tires are printed with direction which side should be facing outside. Reason the proper direction of tread.

These are called rotational tyres .

Experienced it few times,mostly on motorways.theres nothing worse than seeing traction control light coming up at 60-65 mph.Ive been very lucky specially one time when I was on dark country lane doing about 40 mph,there was about one foot standing water and I realised it's there when I hit it.For next few seconds had no control but somehow I floated through without car going sideways.but the sinking feeling you get can't be explained.

pasrur road sialkot has some deep patches(cant remember what they are called, they are like the ones on the emergency lanes of American freeways.), water puddles formed in these due to rain some days ago and whenever i hit one of them my car went a lil sideways, i slowed down then but the feel of car floating on water is scary even though i have fun with handbrake turns occasionally, but hydroplaning is like steering a boat with damaged rudder.

the road was empty, i wasn't driving fast(40-60 kph while i sometimes do 100 on this road when conditions are appropriate), and the patches i'm talking about are right in the middle of the road near the divider. and i slowed down after hitting two of them(i thought that the first one was the only puddle but the second appeared suddenly before i could slow down).

I would say if you know certain areas on the road, drive slow and safe in that areas.

Also to note that with wear and tear and over time the road gets rutting ( gets channeled out where the car wheels travel time and again). The depression start collecting water in rain. I mean even in slight rain these gets filled up. If you know such locations on your commute one should be very slow. The agencies taking care of roads need to address these rut formation ASAP. Sometime they need to be re-carpeted. But an immediate solution is to do road milling..

Reason for rutting are many.. Can be poor or improper road design and specially asphalt quality control, and mostly is over loading. Single axle trucks are the biggest problem of our country..

Something similar happened with me today- I was driving too close to the edge of the road at Canal Road, Faisalabad.
Steering went a bit to the right and I started driving through a massive puddle of water. Lost control of the car for a few seconds and I could feel the water inside the wheel wells. Sadly, there was a car admiring the work done on the right without hazards and I saved myself rear-ending it by turning on hazards and quick turn to the left. My wipers were off, hence I couldn't see ahead properly!.

Not a fun experience, not anymore. Plus, my window was 2" down and I got myself wet lol! had to dry all the power window switches etc.
