Here's the post. Someone sent it to me just rn
I'm writing this post for the general public awareness and Hyundai Pakistan . We have no other motive except for the safety of all our beloved families around. My brothers and cousins along with their families were traveling by road from Karachi to Islamabad to attend a wedding event on 1st July 2022. They left Karachi around 11 pm in three vehicles and reached Sukkar at 5:30 am in morning. Everyone offered Fajar prayers and had breakfast together at a local hotel before start of their journey on Sukkar motorway M5.
The tragedy stuck around 6:30 am when my youngest brother who was driving his brand new Hyundai Sonata behind the others cars disappeared, while others thought he might have slowed his car. He was traveling with her newly wed wife and a five months old daughter, sitting on the baby car seat. The car was on a cruise control at 130 km/h in the center lane and as per the report of motorway police it went out of control all of a sudden(exact cause is unknown) and hit the safety rail on the left. The car didn't rolled over and may also have hit the center divider (not confirmed) before coming to standstill right in the middle of the motorway. My brother and her daughter survived with minor injuries and unfortunately his beloved wife died in his arms at the place of incident. She suffered multiple injuries, mainly on head and other parts of the body. We truely believe everything happened with the will of Allah and this time for the eternal aboard was written for her. May Allah bless her, forgive her and offer her the choicest place in Jannat. Aameen!
I admit the car was 10 km above the speed limit but does this means it converts into a piece of trash after hitting rails on the motorway? I want to raise serious questions on the build quality and safety standards of this car. Despite of the fact that front airbags opened except for the airbag of the passenger seat where our sister was sitting. A big car which has 2.5 litre engine and being offered with all the latest gadgets and claimed safeties is completely destroyed in seconds by getting few hits from rail and may be divider at a speed of 130 km, than what is the point for offering such safeties and top speed of 200 km/h plus? Instead they should restrict to 100 kms/h for the top speed, atleast human lives can be saved. The complete front body and glass either came inside or destroyed without any resistance. The roof dismantled and flown away as seen in the pictures! Why the front airbag of passenger seat didn't opened? There can be other unknown causes which are under discussion for e.g. the jamming of cruise control, tyre burst etc. These are questions which need to be addressed by the car maker company. The reason for this is there are so many other cars in this range and I owe one of them where they resist such accidents at this given speed. I'm convinced and believe we and other customers are robbed by the company in name of high spec car! If it is not designed to cater accidents within the range of speed limits than they're playing with the human lives.
We would like this message is shared and go to the responsible persons in Hyundai Pakistan and should investigate and if deemed fit, the car should be recalled and discontinued.
In the end, our family would like to thank and praise National Highways & Motorway Police-NHMP for helping us in an exceptional way in the hour of need right from the start, giving covers to the injured and deceased, helped us till the end. I will sincerely request to all those who have bought this car to travel on a low speed or replace with the other options available in this range as the safety of family is the most important matter and comes first for everyone. Regards
