Hello, New user here but have been following Pakwheels since a very long time. The community here is really awesome. Looking for some advise and feedback from you guys.
So I took delivery of Hyundai Sonata 2.5 a couple of weeks ago. I purchased the car for my own personal use. The delivery time got delayed but that's fine, expected under the current climate. Then at the time of delivery, I checked the car all around and found that paint was chipped at the edge of the driver side door. Raised the issue to them because when you're buying a new car, you expect it to be scratchless. They were kind enough to put 'kalam' on it and 'issue resolved'. I let it go too since knowing Karachi, you expect these things to happen sooner or later.
A few days later, I took the car to get PPF/Ceramic Coating done. The guys there observed the car and told me that the bumper is not genuine and has been repaired. I was like WTF but they said definitely repaired. I put the process of putting PPF on hold. I don't have an eye for these things as the bumper looked fine to me, so got it checked with 3-4 other independent shops just to make sure that there is no mistake in their assessment. They all confirmed the bumper is not genuine and has been repaired.
Contacted Hyundai dealership immediately and got hold of them. They flatly denied that there is nothing wrong with the bumper and everything is genuine, but told me to come the next day as a person from Hyundai Nishat will come and inspect. Went next day. Both the Hyundai Nishat guy and dealership guy observed in detail. They didn't agree that there was anything wrong but their faces showed someone was up.
Few days later I got a call from the Dealership that Hyundai Nishat has agreed to replace the bumper. I asked them that so you agree the bumper has been repaired. Their response was that NO, but this is for your satisfaction.
This whole ordeal has really left a sour taste. I was genuinely excited that at least there is some competition now in the market but never expected these kind of things to happen. When you book a brand new car, you expect a brand new car, not a repaired one.
Hyundai Nishat wouldn't be spending their resources and putting in a new factory-painted bumper just for my satisfaction.
So what are my options here? The car is now registered. Do I put up a fight that I should be provided with a scratchless 'bumper to bumper genuine car' because that's what I paid for? Or do I get the bumper exchanged and call it a day? Would the fight be worth it or just a waste of my time? Most importantly, would this affect the car's resale value?
Looking for your suggestions and responses.
