Update from last post about delivery.
A couple days later, we went to take the delivery as promised by the dealership. Upon inspection, we found that the scratches were still present on both the cars. Some very faint scratches had been removed by the compound but majority of them were still there. We again raised the issue with the manager and he acknowledged the issue and offered to get the cars compounded again in front of us right there.
We agreed and they called the detailing guy. He compounded the car at all the scratched areas. We kinda knew that compound won't solve anything but went ahead with it. After the job was finished, the scratches were still present and very visible. After seeing all this, the Manager offered to replace the hood of the car with another new car parked on the dealership floor, if we so wished. I was very surprised to hear that they would do such a thing.
We straight up declined because it's immoral to ruin someone else's car as the dealership won't be able to repair the hood any further and would give a new car with the same damaged hood to a customer. Once we told the Manager that we dont want to replace with another car, he started talking how black cars are very difficult to maintain and prone to scratches. We shouldn't worry too much and yada yada. At that point, we didn't have any other option and were getting quite frustrated so decided to take delivery of the cars as they were.
Alhamdulillah, both the cars have been running amazingly since then. The comfort, power and driving pleasure is pretty good. I have driven Civic X Oriel plenty of times so I'll be comparing Sonata with it. Yesterday, I drove Sonata on motorway and the first thing I noticed was the ride height. I missed the low ride height along with the bucket-style seats that the Civic has. Sonata's ride height can be compared to Corolla. The visibility from front seats is pretty good. It's dimensions are almost identical to Civic so manuverability is no issue. The steering is soo damn soft and smooth that you can even move it with one finger easily. I personally like Civic's steering shape more. The cabin is welcoming with good materials and ergonomics. The Head-up display is a very good addition. It's Head unit is very responsive along with Carplay and Android Auto. It's comfort and leg room is leagues ahead of Civic .The panoramic roof is also a treat to have. I drove the 2.5L one which has plenty of power. Its acceleration is better than Oriel X. The transmission has some lag in it but less than Civic. Sound insulation is very good and there's only wind noise at high speeds. Overall, the Sonata is a treat to drive. It provides a good, comfortable ride and also has plenty of power for when you need it.
