Dear Ahmad Abdullah,

Regarding this common logic, if you can buy such expensive car, why can't you pay money for petrol?
It's not about if i can pay for iPhone 12, I should pay 5,000 rupees to a faqir because i can afford?

There is certain angle of value for money, quality and feature durability.

We are comparing many technologies with each other and it's not that one can pay 6 million for a car should also pay 6,000 for something.

Okay, let me explain my worry, I go to remote areas... far far away... Khaplu... where will i find this quality of petrol? I would be willing to pay anything in that area to get fuel.. but it's about availability of fuel? i hope you would understand how we evaluate options and look at things, not everything is about... aap aik lakh ki qurbani ker re hey.. ap 1,000 faqir ko kio nai detey?

Yeah I get your point and it does make sense but as for looks features engine etc MG does have an edge as for cities it is perfect I have been using premium fuel on my civic turbo RS and it has never caused any problems for me

Yes, you are right. this is the main concern for my friend who bought MG recently. He will be leaving for road trip with his family in his MG in a day or two, He is concerned that Hi-octane is available in big cities but what will i do if there are no such fuel available. Like sukkar multan motorway. This is his main concern.

Giving some money to a faqeer isn’t necessary is it ?
Getting a car refuelled to go from one place to another is a necessity
And if you are getting a better car with your only problem being premium fuel is certainly worth it
Besides the difference is only a few rupees

Thank you Abdullah bhai, yes- now you can say this because it took 2 years of troubleshooting and huge losses of production for manufacturer... let's see what's the outcome for these imported cars...

I agree.. MG looks nice.. nice interior.. but I prefer Korean over Chinese and Japnese over Korean and German over Japnese... my view point only.

Jee Jee.. if you got money, it's not necessary you give it up for fuel or some other reason... khair.. i've noticed that faqeerzz don't go near expensive cars because rich people tend to be more "kanjoos"... less expensive car owners give money out a lot more!

Also on what tests and experiments the Chinese 1.5 engine is better than worldwide tested 2.0 aspirated engine?

Proton X70 also has a 1.5 turbo engine but the company says that it should run fine on Ron 92.

95 Octane.

I dont see anything in writing about fuel grade for X70. I will not go with verbal. I would like to see in writing, brochure, or anything else.

All Volvo engines require pump 91 [R+m]/2 as used in US which is basically 95 Octane. If we agree that X70 use same engine as XC40, in XC40 the engine makes around 156HP while in X70 the power is 177HP.

I don't know if X70 will be good enough with regular 91. I read some various reviewes and found that in Malaysia the 1.8T is also pumped with higher octane although the same 1.8T runs fine with 91 in China.

1.5T with higher power figuers and the same engine as in Europe and requiring 95, makes it little confusing. That's why we should ask for official written statement. Normally the fuel rating is posted in the fuel tank lid. Someone has to open it and check it.

The dealerships are opening soon I asked mg lyallpur representative about it they are saying it will be functional by 1st week of January and it’s not as if dealerships are never opening

Glad you brought that up. Here is the official statement.

According to Håkan Sandquist, who is director of powertrain strategy at Geely's China Euro Vehicle Technology (CEVT), the three-cylinder 1.5T was developed to run on RON 92 petrol as it is common in China.

Geely says the X50, which uses the same Direct Injection 1.5T as our X70, makes 177 PS and 255 Nm using RON 92 fuel and with RON 95, the figures go further up to 179 PS and 265 Nm.

Anyways the " local blend 91/92 " is again with high % of MMT. Although the pump says 92 octane but the ingredients is the issue. The imported regular fuel 91/92
( Euro 5) should be fine BUT not the local blend 91/92.

Attock refineries, Pak Arab, are still importing MMT and using it in local refineries.

Here is recent consignments of MMT and just few examples. I mean its going in to your local refineries.. and it's a cancer for engine and emission systems. Personally I will not take chance with any 92 octane. I will stick to Euro 5 regular but then again, its availability is not everywhere and not always available. Issue with Civic was same, 91 octane is required but the local 91 octane was a mess.

This HITEC 3000 dose of 50MG per liter increase octane rating by 3. As per reports local blend do contain 40 to 50 Mg per liter.

When you compare a octane rating from China, Malaysia and Pakistan, we should also see the refinement level of these octane ratings as well.

Well yes, Pakistan's "version" of RON92 petrol is a whole different debate and needs consideration.

The recent report on fuel hoarding by OMCs also shed some light on how companies contaminate their fuel to raise octane number. If i remember correctly, hascol was found to be the worst offender. I'm sure the "RON 97" Fuel they advertise is substandard as well.

Keep in mind both are not available country wide. When we say 92, as a buyer what he should do ? Start looking for Euro-5 only ?? Just saying 92..make it risky

BTW China has 2mg/l allowed for MMT and it's going down. Many countries have banned it , refineries in Europe, US have voluntarily stopped using it. Even in India it is ZERO.

MMT is still active in 3rd world countries and major user base. Just for reference, 14 Metric tons of MMT is good enough to treat approx 280 Million liters of petrol to raise 3 octane number.

yes, availability of this fuel grade is a challenge, and then who can we trust on stated quality is another challenge, meaning- if some saying it's RON 92 but it's not really up to the mark.

hence, bottom-line, use hi-octane fuel until the dust settles, when there is more info available after general release, only then risk it with normal fuel... be safe!

Javed Afridi is very greedy man, He sold 100 units to dealers and now they are demanding 65 lak. As per GOVT policy they can not import more than 100 units, because if they do they will have to pay 13800 US$ import duty. they sold these 100 units, Most foolish people are who are getting crazy to book MG, Oh my brothers they do not have car now, dont waste your money on chines.
