I am thinking of getting Mitsubishi Galant 2002 1500cc. Please GUIDE!

Hello everyone, my name is Zain and as you have read in the topic section, I am thinking of getting Mitsubishi Galant 2002. The car is in good condition, it has been driven 59,000km. I have always been fascinated by the looks of this car. However I want guidance from the worthy folks here on the forum about the maintenance of the car and part availability.

Galant with a 1.5 liter engine? Can you post some pictures of the engine bay?

This is the picture. It is not here in Pakistan. I was searching for galant in Japan. You have pointed out rightly that how can it be 1500cc. I was surprised as well, but this is what I found. I have also found 3 more vehicles which are 2000cc or 2.4 turbo. Miles on their engines are relatively high with lowest being 95k. None of the vehicle is in Pakistan.

Mitsubishi Galant is a white whale in Pakistan. Fascination is good, however sadly if the vehicle is 1500 cc & registered in Pakistan the engine is already swapped or from an embassy auction.

Try to Skip it, mechanical & cosmetic parts support does not exist for any pre 2010 Mitsubishi brand vehicle.

If you are living abroad and intend to drive it abroad then go ahead. But as far as Wikipedia tells me, this Galant never came with a 1.5 engine. And if you are planning to bring it to Pakistan then it's not possible. Import of cars older than 3 years is not permitted except maybe classic cars.

And then custom duties, etc. are quite high for Non-Hybrid, 1500 cc cars.

You are right. It does not come in 1.5 variant. However, are you absolutely sure about the import policy? If a car is 2000 cc and the make is of 2002. I am not allowed to import it?

YES. You can only import a used car in Pakistan, which is 03 years old from the year of manufacturing, i.e. in current year 2020, you cannot import a car which is older than 2017 made (2017 and above is only allowed). 2016 made, and older than 2016 cars will not get cleared by the Customs Department, as far as I know.

For Jeeps / SUVs, the limit is 05 years.

As per wiki, it is a subcompact crossover SUV produced by Toyota, so technically, it should fall under Jeeps / SUVs category.

Still, let the experts, or persons dealing in their import ( @umarmuslim ) guide better.
