I bought a unique car and now I’m worried about the project

So I bought this 1978 Opel Kadett as a project car. It’s a somewhat of a two door, RWD and in good condition, checking all the boxes for a car enthusiast with no prior practical knowledge. Now that I’m starting to get some work done on the car, I can’t find ANYTHING for it. I had to get custom gaskets, altered locks(and no body parts available obviously). It’s still running the original engine and trans. I might be doing an engine swap soon, should I just keep it in the original condition or go ahead making it a Frankenstein.

sounds like its in a good condition, If you are not up for it id suggest selling it to someone who likes to restore old cars.

To make a frankenstein there are plenty rwd toyotas available from that era

Bad option for a project if you're not restoring it back to specs. Better to sell and buy an old Corolla.
