Brother, there was an issue which led the previous owner to switch the fan to direct, and not leave it on its automatic specified settings. I, myself own a 2004 EXI Prosmatec, and in my case, when I purchased the car, the fan was on automatic specs, but there was no thermostat valve in place. When I purchased the OEM thermostat the car overheated. I had the engine rebuilt, and still the car overheated.
I would sincerely advise you to check your cooling system. If your car is driven with water being used as a coolant, please carry out the following steps:
1) Do an acid flush to remove the rust from the cooling system.
2) Have your radiator serviced. I don't know if you have an EXI or a VTI, but it's better to replace the radiator as it might cause leaks overtime. Use a 1.1 pressure radiator cap, buy it directly from Honda.
3) Check the waterbody/waterpump of your engine. Odds are that the fins located on the water body are rusted and fail to circulate the water/coolant in the engine properly.
4) Replace the waterjacket, its mounted with the engine on the left side of the block, you'll see the rubber pipe which supplies water/coolant to your Throttle Body.
5) Inspect your head assembly, and the head gasket. The odds are very high that a 2mm non-OEM headgasket has been used. The system will only hold the required 16psi pressure with the paperthin multi-layer steel headgasket, and dont lube it while installing it.
6) Once all the rust has been removed, the coolant system has been serviced/replaced, buy a 78C thermostat valve from Nasir Autos in Plaza, Karachi or from Honda 3S in your own city.
DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT USE CHINESE THERMOSTAT VALVES in your engine, they are very hard and do not open up at the correct time, which will cause your engine to overheat and seize up badly. Fill the system with fresh coolant, I prefer Caltex. Buy a 50/50 premixed, around 5-6 liters. and make sure to bleed the cooling system completely, either by filling the cooling system to the radiator cap till the system till full to the top of the radiator cap. Test drive the car, take it on a long drive, 50kms with AC, 50kms without AC. The temperature needle should stay at the half mark, dont let any dumbass mechanic tell you otherwise.
Feel free to DM me anytime, I've been through this situation, still going through it, buy in a week or so I'm getting a Civic Reborn and selling my 7th Gen.
Cheers mate!
