Identification of good quality D15B engine for civic 2000

Salam experts, I have honda civic 96 model 2000 converted car. I bought kabli engine 7 months ago from Sultan da khu rawalpindi. Unfortunately, its pistons were week and now the engine is of no use. Now I am going to sultan da khu again in the morning to get another kabli engine. I will be grateful if anyone of you could reply to my following two questions:
1. Which engine is suitable for my car in term of smooth noise less and economical drive.
2. What all I need to look into to check the quality of engine before I buy??

For engines you went to sultan khu is strange
Best place for engines in rwp is Mithu khan Sadar
I think go for d16 or d17 best performance and fuel consumption

I have seen some civic 95 with d17 engines believe me looking so good

Thanks buddy but how will I come to know that the engine I am buying is in good condition. Any tips for checking engine I mean when you open taped cover of the assembly, what would be the indicators that the engine has been slightly used and is in good condition.

Compression test is the best way to check engine condition

To conduct compression test, engine has to be installed in the car first. My car is parked in a workshop and I am going to mithu khan saddar to buy assembly. Somebody told me that you have to look for an engine which must have golden colour seals. Is that true??

open the top cover of the engine and see the colour....the more it's golden more it's being used.
no it is not necessary for compression test.
In our markets shopkeepers usually washed the cams so judging by colour is difficult and for compression they install new rings. Mostly engines available in market have ring installed. So it's always better to get engine out of a half-cut. But now half-cut's are also ban. It will be further divided in to 2 pieces.

So there is no way to identify a good engine and it all depends how lucky you are to get a good engine.

If rings work is done already then
Compression will be really high in the cylinders and normally with oem standards a engine compression difference between each cylinder is 5% to 10 % but the consistency of the cylinders with new rings will be unequal aik cylinder will be high another qould be low and very high differences in cylinder. Or if they bored or honed the cylinder the compression will vary

D16y4 gives better mileage then d17. And also have strong internals.

I didn't get complete engine. I only bought engine assembly which was actually required. Mechanic is still busy in installing it. I also decided to change clutch plate and pressure plate which has come to PKR 8500/-. I will soon share the pictures here inshallah. I am really thankful to all of you for your brotherly advises. Indeed it helped me a lot.
