i have a 2004 baleno and a 2006 Liana - the immobilizers are factory fitted and are extremely strong and trustworthy. the point is that even a car with an immobilizer can be stolen - How? yes - the thief have to bring his own ecu, his own ignition switch and his own chip-wali key - for this, he has to first reach the ecu, cut all wiring, plug in his own ecu, re-join all wiring, insert the actual chip-wali key he is having and then try starting.
now what is the difference? the non-immobilizer cars can easily start with any key+mind game of thief - he needs maybe 2 minutes (if not few seconds) to literally start the car and drive it off. so - immobilizer is a YES! nothing in the world is impossible - but the matter here is that how difficult, time consuming and technical it is to do it..
