Importing a Corolla Verso or Yaris from UK? Costs?

Salam folks,

A quick question if I may, I seem to be spending a bit more time in Pakistan nowadays, and I was thinking of importing a car for my own use, frankly Im fed up of the corolla rental cars!

I currently have a Corolla Verso 2.2 diesel, which is a 7 seater, its a 2008 car,the other alternative is the Yaris 1.0 petrol I have, this is also a 2008 vehicle.

Now the Verso Is a lovely car and perfect for carrying people and luggage, but mechanically im not sure if it will be reliable in pakistan, as the 2.2 diesel will cause problems for spare parts, the Yaris (or Vitz) is nice and simple.

Roughly how much would these cost me to import into Pakistan, UK values are

Corolla Verso SR 2.2 D4D - £7000
Yaris T3 1.0 5 DOOR - £4500

The other reason for importing rather than buying in Pak, is that I find Hatchbacks more usefull, but the majority of cars in Pakistan are saloon.

2 posts in 2392 days. You really Love PW like me. At your age, verso would be difficult to handle. I suggest Yaris. I think the locals call it Vitz. It would be very easy to sell that car later on.

Yaris would be a better option, would cost you around 10ish to get it to pakistan.

Im actually 35, why my age is wrong I dont know lol.

10 lakh for the Yaris isnt too bad I guess, but roughly what would it cost for the Corolla verso, just thinking as a long term prospect its a better bet as resale would be higher, in the meanwhile Ive got something a bit different to drive!

verso will fail in pak market unless someone use it as a disability vehicle. 2.2 is too big and petrol/diesel is expensive than gold over there.

Yeah thinking about that too, other option was to buy a avensis petrol and gas convert it.

Im just concerned about the yaris being too small, you know how we all like to cram as many people in as possible lol!

Thats the model im talking about, not the yaris verso btw, doesnt really look like a disability car to me!

I cant understand why mpv's in general arent popular in pakistan, everyone one seems to want saloons!

Duty structure is such that cars with bigger displacement become too expensive.

That's why you should stick to a 1.0, 1.3 or 1.5l car at the most.

there r few yaris here in khi...they all look same as vitz jdm only few changes such as more airbags n digital speedometer......theres so much duty above 1800cc...so better bring yaris n sell ur corolla verso there or exchange to get yaris verso 1.4 d4d diesel
