Importing BMW M3 The new one

Hey guys I live in states I am ready to move back to Pakistan after completing my studies I own a 2008 BMW M3. I have not been to pakistan in 5 years but every one tells me it has changed alot especially the traffic people that I know that just came back tell me that their are more cars and not enough roads. So there advice is it is not worth it. My question is should I go ahead and import it to pakistan or not?

It is the new BMW M3 V8 414 horsepower please give me some advice.

Traffic is bad everywhere in the world.
It really depends on you, mind you the duties are going to be sky high.
Apart from that as its left hand drive could create practical problems.

If I were you I would sell it, buy a right hand drive from england with the money and import it....... but thats just me

usually america imports are of corvette's or hummer's which are hard to find from different countries etc.

u should sell the M3 there and import one from london.

but the duty is gonna be insane bro.

Brother.First ask some mechanics about V8 if they can repair it then import that beauty here.But if they does'nt then its worthless to import it here.But the duties would be damn high.

Dear Khan....well since i work for the group importer for BMW here..maybe i can help..

-first of all there is no point in importing ur M3 from the states as the vehicles are left hand drive there..and we obviously use the right hand versions. The vehicle can not be newer than 22months & older than 3 years.

-import duty on ur M3, if you import it from the US or UK will be 219% on petrol engines bigger than 1800cc..this will cover ur freight, federal taxes..duties etc. since ur car will be used..u will get a rebate of 1% per month. so if ur car is 2007 model year..u will get a 24% rebate on the landed cost.

-ideally you should import from the UK as it will be a right hand version..also as you are aware there is a huge recession which has effected car prices all over..so you should be able to find a great deal there...at the end of the day..the M3 imported from UK will end up cheaper even after u sell urs in the US.

• As far as roads & traffic is concerned here in lahore if you are a petrol head..it really shouldn't matter then..after all ppl here are driving porches, ferraris, aston martins, lamborghinis, corvettes...they seem pretty happy...if you love ur M3 enough...it shouldn't matter to u as long as u are behind its wheel.

-Dont worry abt the maintenance as we have established the BMW brand in all major cities mainly, lahore, karachi, islamabad and faislabad..and we have already imported 2 M5's to Pakistan aswell so we can definitley take care of ur M3...Also no one has imported the new M3 yet the new one that is..so it will be nice to see one drivning around in lahore. prepare to pick up lots of chicitas

Also Instead of of importing it from UK can I not just buy it from DEWAN MOTORS the BMW dealer in lahore so I dont have to pay import and tax duty.

when u buy a car from dewan motors, its made according yo your specifications in germany, and is then shipped from there so you do have to pay the duties. And it will be really expensive i assure you. but the dealers are really nice and they have a very profesional workshop.

Traffic in Pakistan (Islamabad is all I know) got really worse after the turn of the century. The roads where we used to race back when I was a teenager and do 150 kmh on will not allow you to do more than 50 kmh now. Examples (the road that goes from 0 point to the airport, the blue area road from the citbank plaza towards the president house).

In the past, you would wait till the evening so that the city would become a ghost town. Then you could drive insanely. Now the traffic is on pretty much all the time---even well past midnight.

I would suggest you sell your M3 and get a local car here. You can't even take full use of a V6 here in Pakistan---let alone a V8!

Also the gasoline quality is too low in Pakistan. You will only want to use the so called hi-octane fuel in Pakistan---available ONLY at select stations. Plus the milaawati nature of Pakistanis would make sure that even the hi-octane petrol would be worse than the 87 you get in the US! No point driving a car that you can't buy fuel for in Pakistan.

Plus, with all the bad traffic, one scratch on your precious German beauty would leave you sleepless for nights in a row.

Better drive a Civic or Corolla here.
