Importing cars older then 5 years

Good day,
I happend to see the vehicle import law of pakistan & if i am not wrong it states that cars older then 5 years cannot be imported. However i have seen on sum sites supras n skylines in pak, my question is how r those cars imported being old models?
Can sumbody enlighten me on the rules? And what are the custom charges on these cars?

Dear Mr. Driftking86 Sahib,
The current import law states that cars older than 3 years can't be imported. You could import cars up to 5 years old before December 14, 2012 when the law was changed. However you can import Jeeps, SUVs and pick-up trucks up to 5 years old. If you do try to import cars older than 3 years, they will be impounded by Pakistan Customs. I hope this helps.

Ok but the question is how does these older sports cars end up in pakistan? Skylines, supras etc..
Or is it were thy imported long back..?

they were imported long back in 2003 onwards when import of cars older than 5 years was allowed

Correct, there is no legitimate way to import a car more than 3 year old, that's what the law says.

Luckily, I'm having a Mitsubishi Shogun. 94 model. Came from uK under the gift scheme in 2009. It's just some rule that if you own a vehicle abroad for some years (specific years) then you can bring that along with yourself to some other country.

There is no other way, it is very clear.
They are old imports on Musharaff's Regime when 10 years old car imports was legal.

You can smuggle it but I don't think you should take that route because it will end up as an NCP vehicle. I try to be law-abiding.

Some people in Peshawar imported quite a lot of GM Hummers and gave 'Quaid-e-Azam' so that the duty on them could be slashed. They did succeed by paying less after offering 'Quaid-e-Azam' and brought the Hummers on the road. After some time, the Customs Intelligence unit found out and impounded those vehicles. The latest I know is that they are still impounded. The party has not only lost its vehicles but all the money of 'Quaid-e-Azam' because there was no record of it. Insaan ko chaihay k khud bhee aisay kamoon say door rahay aur dosaroon ko bhee iss say door rehnay key talqeen karay. Yay baat aap ko zindagee bhar kaam aiyay gee.

Another car dealer in Karachi used to do this when 5 year old import was at its peak. The Customs Intelligence unit has impounded his vehicles too and now he has lost millions of rupees. This was after they found out the unlawful practice. He has also committed fraud with his investors by eating their money. Aik din Allah nay ussay pakar liyay. Allah key rassee inssan ko dheel zaroor daitee hay laykin khulla naheen choartee aur aik din insaan pakra jaata hay.

Ok apart from Quaid n sum big business man helping me illegally... Is it possible to bring in older cars for just track purposes. Which cannot registered & used out on normal roads. Same rule in UAE where right hand drive cars are not registrable but can be brought in n used solely for tracks.

Any idea about this anyone?

Shudve made use f amenisty scheme if u r that die hard for drifting capable cars. Well still, spread the word around, somebody might b having such vehicle, Cleared but unregistered.. get ur hands on the vehicles Then.....

Bro, the problem is the cars i want to bring in are already drift tuned and are coming in for a purpose. I am planning to open a drift learning academy & a track (see my other thread in forum Wheels in Pakistan) you will understand y i m so keen on bringing in my own cars. I dont want to spend more on buying again same cars n modding them in pak. And moreover those who have the cars in pak will either quote a heavy price or wont be intrested in selling due to them being rare.
