Importing Lexus

Hi guys,
I'm thinking to import my Lexus ES350 Sport 2018 from Dubai to Karachi, kindly let me know the procedure to clear the car when it reaches Karachi. Any idea about custom duty on it ? I'm importing it through an Emirates Flight to Karachi, car would directly reach Jinnah Intl Airport, any idea where I can go to check the car after reaching Karachi.

Contact an agent or a clearing agency, they will clear it for you.
Air freight will cost you 15 to 25 lacs as govt charges their own set of tax on it. Lastly, imports are closed. Wait till car imports reopen again.

If it's left hand drive then it will be at a disadvantage here. Better to import a right hand drive version from Thailand, Malaysia, Japan or UK.

Thank you Samii for the response, emirates is charging me 22,000 AED equivalent to 650,000 PKR. I didn't knew imports are closed for cars, i'll surely check that and wait for the right time.

Nope. Imports are practically closed for commercial import purposes (i.e. for local dealers), however, in case of transfer of residence, personal baggage and gift schemes, import is open for genuine purpose and overseas Pakistanis (just policies have been changed and made strict).

You may Google and also search on this forums, for sorting out the mechanism of importing your car here (Current policy have been discussed sometimes here).

Still not clear, contact Customs Department, Pakistan directly (via helpline or email).

Let the things prevail and get easy. Your car will arrive at Karachi port but will be parked for months as it will not get cleared. Or i would like you to Contact Jumbo International clearing agency, The guy name is Arghan Tahir and his brother name is Gufran Tahir.

Once your car is here, you may ask a good custom clearing agent to process the case.

As such there is no ban on importing cars. Importer is being expected to pay all custom duty and further charges to govt in USD.

I would strongly recommend you to get your car sent via sea. 1) you will save some money on logistics, 2) in-case of delay in clearance seaport demurrage charges are lower vs. airport demurrage charges 3) Pakistani airports staff don't have ample exposure in handling cars, they might damage your car.

Do consider options of Transfer of Residence and/or gift scheme to save some money on custom duty. FBR website has details and someone in Pakistan Consulate in Dubai might be able to guide you further.
