In a hurry to get to my destination I bought fuel from a very shaddy lo0king Petrol pump today near Al-Karam Square Karachi. Within 20 seconds of leaving the pump I noticed my bike started knocking really really badly. My bike has never knocked so fiercely ever before. Not only was my bike's engine knocking but it was also snatching.
Engine Knocking:
It occurs when combustion of the air/fuel mixture in the cylinder starts off correctly in response to ignition by the spark plug, but one or more pockets of air/fuel mixture explode outside the envelope of the normal combustion front. The fuel-air charge is meant to be ignited by the spark plug only, and at a precise time in the piston's stroke cycle. Knock occurs when the peak of the combustion process no longer occurs at the optimum moment for the four-stroke cycle. The shock wave creates the characteristic metallic "pinging" sound, and cylinder pressure increases dramatically.
Effects of engine knocking range from inconsequential to completely destructive.
Engine Snatching:
When I accelerated my bike at low speed without changing the gear then the engine behaves jerky, which results in engine knocking but this is snatching and not knocking.
Question:
The engine knocking and snatching is really fierce and for the first time I think my engine is gonna die (somethings gonna break inside). Sometimes I think I should drain the tank and fill up from a decent pump........however another part of me says......."Khench ker Rakh".
Should I drain the fuel? Or do you think the engine can take it?
