Autocar India has picked the following five cars as tops in the compact automatic transmission hatchback segment in my market . What do you think?
1. Hyundai Grand i10
The well-rounded Hyundai Grand i10 automatic makes for a great city car.A four-speed automatic gearbox adds a healthy dose of convenience to the already-likeable Hyundai Grand i10. Updates earlier in 2017 brought with it improvements to the ride quality, as well as more features including a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, making the small Hyundai more complete than before.
Hyundai Grand i10 automatic price:
1.2 Kappa Dual VTVT 4-Speed Automatic Magna Rs 5.99 lakh
2. Suzuki Ignis
The distinctly-styled Maruti Suzuki Ignis automatic is a peppy urban runabout. The Maruti Ignis’ design may not be to all tastes and its automated manual transmission (AMT) isn’t the most sophisticated of systems either. However, the gearbox is in tune with the peppy 1.2 petrol engine and that makes the Ignis a friendly city car. Efficiency is good as well.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis automatic prices:
Delta (Automatic) Petrol Rs 5.72 lakh
Zeta (Automatic) Petrol Rs 6.17 lakh
3.Honda Brio
Honda’s Brio automatic scores big for convenience. Pity, it’s a bit old now.Small and easy to drive, the Honda Brio has always been a great city car. And with the five-speed automatic gearbox, it’s even more suited to the urban grind. Last year’s facelift helped enhance the little Honda’s cabin manifold but there’s no denying the Brio has started to show its age.
Honda Brio automatic prices:
VX AT Petrol Rs 6.74 lakh
4. Ford Figo
The Ford Figo automatic is appealing but it is pricey and the gearshifts aren’t the smoothest. The Ford Figo automatic stands out for its class-leading power output of 112hp from its 1.5-litre petrol engine, and it is also the only one to use a dual-clutch gearbox. Unfortunately, the six-speed gearbox isn’t as smooth as it ought to be. The high price is another downer.
Ford Figo automatic prices:
Titanium 1.5 Ti-VCT AT Rs 7.80 lakh
5. Nissan Micra
The CVT-equipped automatic is the best version of the Micra. But rivals offer more. You’d like the Micra automatic for its ease of use and good efficiency, and its CVT gearbox working well with the 77hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine. But as capable as the Micra is, it now feels dated and trails rivals when it comes to equipment and build quality.
Nissan Micra automatic prices:
XL CVT Automatic Rs 5.99 lakh
XV CVT Automatic Rs 6.99 lakh
