first you need to check your hardware in HCL (hardware compatibility list) OSx86
for best result stick to intel motherboard with intel graphics card, but for graphics acceleration QE/CI you need compatible ATi or nVidia.
Macs use EFI system, regular BIOS cannot boot that DVD, so there is a boot123 program, you have to burn its ISO to a cd, boot from it and then it will ask you to insert DVD. Then insert the Mac OS X dvd and setup will start. This method works for Snow leopard.
