Dear Friends,
I have searched the market and get feedback from people over the topic of installing CNG in new city.
The answers mostly are negative for the fact that CNG later causes problems and that petrol average is very good for city. However the actual average will be observed after driving atleast 5000 KM. Till date I drove 3000 KM.
Currently my car is giving me average of 11 Km / Litre in city driving.
I have been to Hyderabad and on that route my average was 16.9 KM / L.
Still I am confused whether to install CNG or not.
My daily drive is about 70 KM but the fuel consumption increases a lot when I return from office to home i.e. from I.I. Chundrigar Road to FB Area.
There is a lot of traffic jam & hardly gets a chance to drove at 4th gear.
If such traffic jams were not there, my car would easily go to 14 KM / Litre in city drive. I drive almost bumper to bumper in my way back.
Plz. update / comment on installing CNG or NOT ??

if u maintain a car properly, cng wudnt do any harm even in long term... my own car is reaching 150k kms on cng... not a single issue until now... i also drive almost 100kms daily, one harsh roads etc etc...just change the plugs, air filter and oils at proper time n nothing will happen

i just installed CNG KIT in city 2010 at 36500rs from Abid in peshawar.
and he told me that in this car the patrol gauge is different, u wont be using it and the gauge will keep going down. because its connected with the tire rotation. as tire rotates it goes down, and its realy bad yar coz i will be having full fuel and its gona show me i dont have any.
i will never know how much patrol i have in my car
any ideas to solve it?

i dint know that we have such genius car manufacturers...by the way it seems a myth of your mechanic and nothing more, this would be a big stupidity by Honda if it is for real, i believe it can't happen...just imagine the following
Petrol gauge going up while reversing the car:P
Petrol gauge going down while you are running on CNG:D
Petrol consumption is same in city and on motorway
Petrol Consumption is same while AC is on or off
Petrol consumption is same if you r touching 100 km/hr in 3rd gear or 5th gear
Petrol consumption remains the same either you are driving up hill, down hill or straight road.:-#:-#:-#

Dude, I agree with you, there is issue of fuel gauge but I have a solution for that too.

Since petrol pricess will defenitely rise in Jan so go to petrol station and get a full fuel tank., now when you start your City, it will show you a full gauge. now keep on driving on CNG, you will see that fuel gauge is dropping depending on your mileage. but you will realize that if it goes down to E and you park your car in garage as you normally do, and next day when you start it, the gauge will go back to its actual position depending on the amount of petrol you had in your fuel tank.

This is what exactly I follow. I have checked several renowned places for this issue but everyone said the same thing that gauge can only work on petrol but not on CNG.

You should join my club then:) "Anti-anti CNG club". I totally understand where are you coming from. We all would love to have our cars on petrol but who can afford petrol these days. I live in US and its becoming harder and harder to afford petrol here so I dont blame you.

I wish we had an alternate fuel option too. We have Hybrid cars but they are much more expensive so at the end of the day it costs around the same. We do have Civic GX model which is a CNG version, that sells for around $23K (much more than a regular civic) but then again we only have 3 CNG filling stations here in our area and CNG cost as much as the petrol. But most of the public transit buses are actually run on CNG.
