I think all cars go fine for longer if they dont go to mechanics / electrictions frequently. Bc they fix one thing and ruin two other. I wont be wrong and believe me i dont find this car expensive to maintain like ppl say abou charade. Believe me, i do most thing in my garage, incl tuning (point gapping and ignition timing with timing light), electrics and most mechnicals. Major jobs like axle change and steering rack are done mechnics that too under strict control. I never take this car for electrics as guys there are fond of cutting original wiring and doing Ts and tapping while discarding orginal grip.
I have downloaded mechnical technical manuals for engine and electric diagrams and learned it hard way but now atleast the wire color code etc are at finger tips. Today mechnics dont even know a thing about carby turbo engine and its vacuum hoses it do it myself. and they even dont know its equiped with an elctric pump in the tank and where the pump relay is and how it stops the fuel flow to prevents leaks incase the car bangs in tree. What they do is direct connection of pump with ACC/ON/ STRAT switch and there your electric circuit goes...
