Almost all inverter ACs have a maximum amperage of higher than the normal running current. e.g. 2.2-6.8A for a 1 ton inverter AC which has a running wattage of 1100W and max wattage of 1560W. I understand inverter ACs run the compressor at a faster speed during intial operation but what if this AC is installed in a room too big for it's size: will the AC run at max watts (1560W) continuously and end up actually consuming more power? Or will it stabilize it's operation at 1100W no matter how big the room is?

Perhaps, it all depends on what temperature you start from and how long it takes to lower the temperature of the room (you didn't mention the room size) to the desired temperature. So if it's taking longer than yes more consumption. You would of been better of getting a 1.5 ton instead.

If you plan on running it at its full capacity why invest in a more expensive inverter ac. There will be no savings for you. Stick to the conventional acs. Whatever ac you get should be sized according to the room size.

I'm curious if an inverter ac can end up consuming more power than a conventional ac.

This post doesn't belong here exactly but I couldn't find another air conditioner thread so only reply if the members are okay with me posting this, just looking for a quick suggestion

I purchased a 1.5 ton Orient ac back in 2010 and since then the ac has not been serviced or anything. Not even the inner unit. The only thing we do is clean the air filter jaali using a brush and water every year and the ac is good to go. Moreover the gas has never been topped up once in the last 6 years. Okay coming to the point, the thing I find weird is that this ac with all the neglectful maintenence works so good that it's unbelievable. I've seen never acs works worse than this from reputed brands. And moreover it's from Orient, which from this thread I can conclude is a very bad company at making ac. I want to know how my ac is still working so good with 0 maintenence?

And what is the yearly maintenence for a split ac? How frequently does the gas needs to be topped up?

Gas is only needed if there is a leak. You can tell if there is a leak when AC stops cooling. Cleaning the jali is all that you need to do. I had an AC that was 10 years old and still worked like new with super cooling. Maintaining it myself like you. Only replaced it to save electricity bill.

Well you are doing maintenance by cleaning indoor unit, so it is being serviced.

Also if gas pressure is ok, then cooling is not much compromised with time.

Orient ac especially old ones are great, using them myself.

You should establish some KPI.
Get a room thermometer, measure how much degree it drops in hour.

Then get ac serviced, where indoor unit is removed and cleaned with water. There are parts where tootbrush cant reach. Ac like other electrical products accumulates dirt over time.

Now measure the temp drop. It will be rapid and more than before.

I have ten years old haier, which was great by my standards , but when it got cleaned indoor unit after removing, it is giving unbelivable cooling based on kpi.

So nothing extra ordinary in ur case. Split ac are mature tech n work great with little maintenance but can work much better with extra effort..

Yearly maintenace is around 2500 , if you bring in tech guy to measure gas and do ac service.

I am.also using orient 1.5 ton non invwrtor since last five years without a single service and gas charge... working so flawlessly and great and i am so happy with it .....
Now i have purchased a new orient ultron premium series 1.5 ton and believe its a heaven on earth with such an excellent air blow and cooling ....
Orient is highly recommended

Guys is it safe to vacuum the dust after removing the filter, from the part that is underneath it? I saw it being done on non inverter AC, wanted to know if same can be done with these ones. As I run AC non stop, I hear chikh chikh noice from AC.

use tooth brush on condesnor works great. Use it after using ac because the dust gets wet and is very easy to wipe off.

Brush is a temporary solution and may block fins if not done properly hemce reducing the life of ac...better is to keep the filters clean(once a week)....and get ur ac serviced once a season by dismantling the split.

Yes thats y I said to get ac service once a season....also cleaning the air filters will keep evaporator in good health.

Ask from the first or Second house from pmt and if there volts are same as yours, it will be useless to change wires from silver to copper.

Beside this, it's impossible to have such a drastic voltage drop and the wire is not getting red hot

Pretty much sure that the culprit is pmt .

Thanks guys for suggestions. I use toothbrush sometimes but vacuum cleaner seems like a much better option. I will give you guys link a video on youtube where Mitsubishi AC technician shows this method. Please let me know what you guys think after seeing it. Also someone told me that do not let them dismantle inverter AC while servicing, true or false?

sallam i have orient prime series inverter ac 1.5 i m facing problem its working fine when lights goes n come back the ac wil not start or when i switch off the ac n trying to on again its not showing any current guy came frm orient he xhecks the ac that time ac is working fine he examine through volt meter n says every thing is fine .... but my problem is same some time ac become not On whole night or day is any one face same problem ? what will be the issue ?plz can any one reply
