Do these batteries need some maintenance during operation or they are sealed type? Dear Salim. Assalamoalikum. Gel batteries are sealed and there's no maintenance. Life is 5 years provided used with good charger.

Cost is around 36 K per piece of 200AH each.

Once you call tesla they'll give you price of each content.

It's absolutely safe and as safe as our normal electric wiring once correctly laid.

After going through all the discussions above, I my self have planned to install the solar power system at my place by Tesla. I n this regards, I have a few questions if you could calrify,

1- For the 3000W (solar cells) with 5.0 kVA inverter, how many units ( kW-hr) can be generated per day (approximately).
2- Are you able to operate the system in the evening and night and day (24x7) or only during day hours? And for how many hours per day with regards to the load you have specified.(assuming that all the devices are not operating simultaneously).
3- If you add 2 more batteries to your system (only batteries) will it help to run for a longer time or you may also have to add solar cells accordingly.
4- For your system to run 24x7, what up-grades to your system are required considering your current load. Thanks.

& Huzaifa I forgot to mention earlier, but here I must mention that you have to use all equipment with "A" rating for energy efficiency. For example all lights have to be either LED, SMD OR COB, fans should be of SK or Lahore Fans (80 watt each), refrigerators and AC's should be inverter based. And wiring should be proper, no wire joints and wire should be of high quality. Like Pakistan Cables. And you'd be really surprised how less the load is. Luckily I have all above in order except the refrigerators are still not inverter based.

Now see the load yourself:

5x 80: 400 watts for fans
30x3: 90 watts for lights
2x80: 160 watts for TV
600 (average )x2: 1200 watts for 2 AC
140x2 : 280 watts for refrigerators
60 watt is the idle load (compared to 420 watts when the wiring was old and of low quality)

Now that is total 2190 watts only. Don't you think you can plug in an iron, computers and printers when you're producing 4000 watts???
Hope that makes the matters clear.

Plus as the ref and AC's are all time working so obviously the load is reduced when the temp is reached and obviously all fans are not running all the time. So there you go. Hope you get it now.

Yes Huzaifa, read my post above.... The load is a not always the max as everything is obviously not running all the time. And once the AC's reach set temperature they are merely consuming 300 watts each. On 3000 watts panels I have 5 kVA inverter producing 4000 watts of alternating current (Actually a little more than that) I have given you load distribution above you can very easily run all the equipment that I mentioned. And my dear, every thing is NOT running all the time, the max load that I have observed on my system is 2.5 kVA. As many things are off or don't consume that much energy as they would once they restart after load shedding.

Dear imran. Assalamoalikum.
Regarding your queries, here is the reply:
1. I really don't know as my inverter doesn't display or keep a record, even if it does I don't know.
2. Yes, the system works as a ups after the sunset and continues operating using the solar power stored during day and then recharges the battery to full once power is back. Furthermore it is completely programmable and you can set you priorities, eg if you wish to use Solar first (During day), battery at sunset or when amperage is low and then the LESCO - it can be done, or if you wish a specific percentage of the battery to be saved only - that can also be done or if you wish to use as UPS after sunset - that can be done too. It's a fully programmable toy and I keep adjusting according to my needs during summer and winter.
3. You can't add 2 more batteries, if you have to add you can - but in multiples of 4, like 4,8, 12. No issues. No need to add solar cells and rather you can't add further PV cells, you can add batteries only, as the capacity of MPPT charger of 5 kVA inverter is max 3000 watts. Don't add anymore. However you can add batteries.
4. For running 24x7 on Solar / batteries only, I am attaching the table from manual, the first column is load in kVA, 2nd tells you back up time with 100ah batteries (4 nos) and 3rd column tells you back up time with 200ah batteries (4 of them). And you can easily calculate how many batteries you need for running whole night and day.

Dear one AC is one ton, the other one is 1.5 Ton. However I wouldn't suggest to run on 2kVA UPS, as that is merely 1200 watts and you must have other load on that too. However you may try by switching off other equipment. Worth trying. However it will severely reduce your backup time.

Salim Saab Assalamoalikum.
I am attaching the page from manual clearly illustrating that you need 3000w and 48 V DC to produce the above. If you wish to know the exact calculations, I don't know. However it does. And that's enough for me.

Dear Aslam Saab. Assalamoalikum.
Regarding the AC please confirm that it's inverter based!!!
And 2ndly 1.5 T these days (as its hot) will start at 1.8 kW but with half hour once temp is reached (I set at 25 C) the consumption keeps dropping and settles at 600 Watts (Day) and 400 Watts (night). They key is to keep it running. I'm very very happy with both of mine Alhamdulillah. They keep running continuously and I stay happy.
Although today I am running only one. But will let you know once I calculate again.

Inverter A/C's operate at full power but when the desired temperature is reached or it is lowered , then the Wattage starts to reduce .
Key is to set it at temperature where you feel comfortable which is 24-25!
If you'll keep it at 16 , it'll keep trying to make and maintain 16 and never reduce its power

• i had set the temp at 30 !!! as i have a single meter installed by KE - my units per day count to 40+ these days- i am working hard to reduce the power consumption...
• last night, 24 units consumed in 12 hours - the ac had ran for approx. 5 hours on 30 C setting - estimated that it had taken on average 5x1.5=7.5 units remaining units - 16.5 ????

estimated other loads last night:
10 fans x 80x12=9.6 units
5 savers x 25x12=1.5 units
2 fridges x 250x12=6 units

i am working hard to find a solutuion to this heavy consumption. KE has unfortunately applied one meter per house policy therefore no way out except that i can install some alternate energy system..on which i am working. any advise - bros. will be welcome.

You're most welcome Salim Saab. Give the load that you've mentioned the consumption is far far higher I must say.

Just to give you an idea - my AC was started at 09:30 hours today on Solar. Initial load was 2.09 kvA which is now only 1.2 kvA. Currently and in the morning too 1AC, 2 refrigerators, 5 fans, 1 Audio System, 2 set top boxes and around 16 LED lights were on.

Currently my meter is showing only 100 W load. As all is on Solar.

We also have a one house - one meter policy unless there's a tenant.

Rest now a days my meter consumes around 15/16 units per day. That too at night.

When I run 2 AC the average consumption shown on my meter is 21 /22 units only.

Given above you have a lot of wastage of energy I guess. Plug that loophole buddy.

Specially old wiring is monster. Even more so if wires are of low capacity compared to machine running on it.

Hope that clarifies. Your temperature setting should reduce your units a lot. 24 units during one night are way way more. Find out what's wrong man.

It shouldn't be like that.

You need something to accurately calculate consumption of appliances. I would recommend you get this.

Power / Energy Meter (DEM1499)

I have one at home and it is very useful in finding out how much energy each appliance is consuming. You simply plug it in the wall outlet and plug the appliance whose energy consumption you want to measure in the device. It will calculate current energy consumed and can also calculate energy consumed over a time period. Once you have actual energy consumption of all appliances, then you will know which appliances are inefficient and need to be replaced and also help you in properly sizing your solar setup. It is slightly expensive on the above site, but if you buy online from China it will be much cheaper.

The other way you can measure energy consumed by the appliance is with a simple clamp multimeter. Just turn on the appliance, put the clamp meter on the live wire and check amperes consumed, multiply that by 220 to get consumption in watts.
