I was doing research for a new a new conventional AC. I thought why not go for a good brand this time. I looked into LG, Samsung and Panasonic; Daikin is overpriced in my opinion.
Any way, I thought these brand are expensive but they surely would be better value for money as they must be more energy efficient or work better in some way.
I was surprised to find out power rating of one LG 1.5 ton unit at 2090 watts and a Samsung at 1900 watts. So I thought may be they do more cooling compared to what I have a GREE Lomo. I did some research online as to how cool the air should be blowing out of the AC. I found out that it should be 15-20F lower than what it's sucking in.
So I tested the temps of my GREE. It was pulling 35c and blowing out 21C that is 25F of difference much more than what I expected.
Now the big question, how much power does the GREE Lomo use. The highest I have recorded so far is 1775 watts. It has 410A gas and doesn't take high amps like older ACs. I measured the starting amps to be around 5.
My office main hall is 520sqft. It'd bring down the temp from 35c to 30c which was tolerable with a fan but since last few days the temp is usually 39-40c and it brings it down 5c to 34-35c. So I am now wondering should I buy another 1.5 ton. It will probably only bring the temp down further to 30c or install plastic cover like in some shops to contain the cooling to the part only where it's required; that'd be about 250 sqft.
Anyway, please share your experience with conventional LG, Samsung or Panasonic.
Also does anyone know where can we buy infrared heat measuring gun in Pakistan.
