I have Gree's 16000 BTU unit in my room. Measurements are 15x13x10. Not directly exposed to light. Sunshine available through window from 1500 - about 1700. Ground Floor. No false ceiling. Major heat producing device is 40" LED TV, which remains pretty much switched on for most part of the day. Shuts down at around 0100 (night / morning). When ambient temperature is between 35 to 40 and set temp is 26, it takes 2.2 to 2.6 Amps on average while falling to 1.4 Amps in the mroning. Around 0500 to 0700. Highest I have seen were 5.5 Amps being drawn one odd time when temp set was around 20 or less.
Few things I have noticed for optimum savings:
Keep the fan on auto. (Most important)
Keep temp to 26.
Swing doesn't matter much.
Don't use I Feel.
And oh YES, absolutely. My 15 years old 1 ton Dawlance (conventional) in same room when set to 26 degrees produced far superior cooling. Can't understand why, despite having studied AC/ref cycles during BE.
