amp meter is not even supposed to be a method of measuring.

the easiest sure shot method is to fully evacuate the gas and charge by weight.

Anyone has more info about exploding ACs, there are several cases in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The AC explodes violently, often killing/burning people

Compressors only explode if they developed cracks over time due to poor workmanship or you got faulty gauge that you just keep pumping gas in system and gauge was showing wrong pressure.

R410A is perfectly safe and you can top it up normally. 120 psi pressure is nothing that could cause a blast.

While topping up this gas make sure you do it very slowly and cylinder is upside down.

When you top up an old system just do it by looking at pressure. Never top up already running system by weight as you don't know how much amount of gas was there in it.

But if you have released all gas then by weight is best.

How is gas fully evacuated in Pak? Is it just released in the air? In developed countries they have evacuation machine and they evacuate into a tank.

The gas is still there, while AC is running vapor side is showing 90 PSI (so 28 psi loss). It's looking like simplest way is to release gas slowly for a few seconds, wait for a while, and repeat until pressure stabilizes at 118 PSI.

Is it possible to get the blue bubble leak detection solution from somewhere? Just so I can be absolutely sure of a leak or not.

evacuation machines are available in pakistan and used by proper people.

if you have nothing, even a fridge compressor and empty gas cylinder can be repurposed into an evacuation machine.

The problem is finding those proper people On phone, they all try to sound so experienced and then tell me about topping off technique using amp meter - which is useless on inverter.

Everyone releases it into the air. Personally seen technicians in Islamabad/ Rawalpindi and Karachi just open the valve and expel the remaining gas.

How much is typical cost of charging for 1 Ton AC (410A = 710 grams)? Also heard about there being American vs Chinese gas, how do I tell if its genuinely American/Honeywell gas?

Guess which energy meter do you use for measuring consumption. In market brii meters are most common. Has anyone measured their accuracy?

In my bedroom, I have a regular non inverter 1.5T sabro ac that is used regularly and another room has 1 ton inverter ac that is barely if ever used. I was thinking to swap these two units as I have regular usage of ac.
But the thing that confuses me is whether I would have any benefit by swapping these two units? During day time I run the ac on 28 and I've noticed that compressor runs for less than 2 mins and then trips for 3-4 mins. Similarly during nighttime I run on 29 and compressor runs for less than two mins and trips for 6-7 mins. Lower temps get a little uncomfortable.
Today at 1pm I timed it running at 29, compressor ran for 3 min and then remained trip for 14 and half minutes.
Does it makes sense to swap with inverter? That's why I want to check with energy meter but I'm not sure of their accuracy specially when the difference in energy consumption between both may be negligible.

You also need to analyze the size of the room in which sabro 1.5 ton is being used. Suppose it's a big room for 1.0 ton inverter, then the unit will have to work overtime at peak amps to maintain the desired temperature. This can nullify any cost advantage which you desire.
Idea is inverters should be employed where there is continuous usage (8/10/12) hours. Even during day time just to remove extra humidity from living area. Non inverters are good where used sparingly

Both rooms are exactly same in every way. The 1.5 ton non inverter seems oversize for this room. If I run it even on 27, it gets chilly within 5 minutes.
Also the ac runs all night so the usage is definitely more than 8 hours

Also it's the process in which non inverter shuts off the compressor and then starts again which consumes the most units

I think its around 200 sq ft. According to run time the non inverter has a compressor duty cycle of 10% only and that's what makes me wonder about is chief effectiveness as compared to non inverter
