IP Security Camera CCTV Suggestions?

I'm looking for an IP/NVR based security camera for our home, however, it looks like most sellers in lahore (hafeez center) are selling analog cameras. Does anyone of a seller that has IP/NVR systems at affordable prices?

Dear Bro

Go for analog cameras because they are cheaper than IP cameras. And now available in Mega Pixel resolution. So no matter they are IP or analog, they are suitable for home security. Just go for it in good brand like Hikvision, Dahua, ZKT.

With IP cameras you can view live video from your phone, tablet or computer from anywhere in the world. My colleagues being away from home have IP cameras installed at their home to view whats happening back home. Check a manufacturer AXIS.

I have installed IP cameras CCTV setup at my home. I did all the homework and research before opting for one.

Following are the main components of the system with prices as of early year 2017.
1. NVR = Hikvision 7608ni-i2 (18500/-)
8 inputs 4K NVR with two HDD support

1. Camera = Hikvision DS-2CD2T42WD-I8 (6mm) (10500/-)
   Fixed lens, WDR 4MP, 80m IR range

2. Switch = TP Link TL-SG1008P (7500/-)
   4 + 4 GBE POE switch

3. Cable = 3M volition (40/m)

4. HDD = old spare 500 GB
   11 days recording time @moderate bit rate and FHD resolution (1 camera only)

I purchased most of the equipment from college road, Rwp and got it installed by myself. There was an issue while registering the NVR on new Hikvision server for online viewing as the NVR was shipped with a pre 2017 firmware. However that issue was resolved after upgrading to new firmware.

The setup has been in use 24×7 for almost 1.5 years without any issues.

Do you keep all the footage or delete it frequently? in case nothing unusual is recorded during a period.

Recording mode has been set to continuous i.e., old data is automatically overwritten with new one.
Last 11 days (almost) recording is always available.

with NVR we can watch ordinary cameras like ip cams. am i getting it right?

NVR can only accept IP camera. There are separate DVRs known as Hybrid DVRs that can accept both IP and ordinary analog composite video inputs.

I read that max resolution on Analog cameras is 1080p/2MP. Agree that they are much cheaper than IP ones. One issue is that it requires dedicated cabling for each camera so if I need to add cameras in the future, I need to figure out a way to get cable all the way to DVR. IP/ethernet makes that a lot easier.

10K for a single camera sounds quite expensive. Is it a high-end IP camera? are there cheaper IP cameras?

Cheaper IP cameras must be available but then you have to compromise on few things like refresh rate, fps, WDR, IR range, resolution etc or you may opt for some other less ecpensive brands such as scout, dhua and many more like them.
I have only one camera added in to the system, this was my initial investment to try and test the setup, later I can add more cameras and advance cameras.
If you find IP cam setup to be expensive then I would suggest you to check details about the Hikvision TurboHD cameras, they work with different DVR (not the common CVBS type) and their results are equally good.
3 MP camera price back in 2017 was around 3 to 4k and a decent specs DVR was available for 8 to 12k. That system utilizes coax cable with a pair of wires for carrying 12VDC to power up the cameras, but then you have to run cables from all cameras to the DVR.

Last month during 3 days sale at Ali express I decided to order a cheap IP/Wi-Fi camera just to see how they perform and how the customs handle it.
I ordered a simple 720p camera with 3.6 mm lens , night vision etc. The package got delivered in 2 weeks without getting stuck up in customs. Installed it on my driveway with a 32 GB memory card inserted. Connected it to my Wi-Fi net work though camHi android application.
Turned out to be an awesome stuff. No unnecessary cabling just a power cord through UPS. Can see live what's going on through my cell phone even when out station or access saved videos on the memory card.
Guess what, it costed me just US$20 (RS2500)
Going to order better specifications camera on next sale.

By the way you may search more cameras on ali express with better specifications and pricing. I picked it up few months back just on the high number of orders and better customer feedback. It has no name" chipset" but is performing fine so far.
