Later this year, my wife and I are intending to travel overland from UK to Asia, in a converted ambulance. How safe is the road from the Iranian border to Lahore for British nationals? Also, does anyone know how safe the roads are around Zahedan, Iran?

Traveling by road from Zahidan to quetta is a bit risky now-a-days. But that doesn't mean you can't do this. When you will enter in Pakistan from Iran via mir javah/Taftan, The pakistani security agencies will escort your vehicle till quetta and I think there is a fee to be paid by foreigners for this service.. Even after quetta, I'll advise you to travel in day light before entering punjab via sadiqabad..From there till lahore and further to Wagah border for entering india, Its quite safe to travel anytime.
About the safety condition around Zahidan, I believe there is no problem at all except too many security checkpoints. So I suggest you to always keep your travel documents complete and ready to be examined..

Thanks, that's a big help. One more thing. Our converted ambulance is based on a Land Rover. In the Land Rover fraternity it is quite common to put a sticker, upside down, on the rear of the vehicle, which reads, "If you can read this, please turn me over." I would like to be able to put this in different languages on our vehicle. Please can you translate this into Urdu, as long as it would be appropriate for me to do this?

The risk starts from Taftan to Quetta , Last night some militant groups attacked taftan hotels 30+ casualties, 30+ injured victims belong to KPK & Punjab .
My advise don't take risk as few months back spanish cyclist captured a blast in his video camera at route from taftan to quetta , somewhere near Mastung .

Another question. From Quetta, do we need to go straight to Sadiqabad, or is there anywhere safe to spend a night before that?
