Is 2016/17 civic worth buying or not?

hope you all are doing great

i am planning to buy my first car in the coming month, budget is 47-48 lacs and as per economic conditions my considerations are

• civic orial [2017/18]
• corolla altis 1.6 4-speed auto [2018]

i'm not a car expert like you guys - but i know the basics
HONDA
- handling
- road grip
- i-vtec
- looks
- drive

Corolla
- build quality
- bullet proof reliability
- okay with bad roads

now i am totally confused - i love the civic handling/shape/drive but this will be my first car so i am very defensive and my concern about civic major issues
- AC
- Steering
- CVT
- plastic quality
- plz mention if any other reported issue

what if i purchase civic and then got some known faults like AC, steering - are these issues fixable i mean if we put rebirth or reborn AC compressor and replace new improved coils (civic facelifted) and what about steering rack ?? it will happen again and again or we can fix this issue permanently?

So should i go with my love (civic) or trusted companion (corolla)

Whether its a corolla, civic or any used car, with time and mileage it would require periodic maintenance and since moving parts have a certain life they would require replacement so please keep that in mind.

For Altis, you can find a relatively newer, low mileage and overall would be the safer option and that too is a very good reliable car for regular use plus the engine and gearbox are well suited to each other and not underpowered at all,

You will probably find a high mileage civic in this budget so you’ll have to ensure you find one with a service history especially the timely cvt fluid replacement. For the steering rack, I know people who’ve had this problem repeatedly 2/3 times but also there are cases where the issue hasn’t even occurred once.

Also take a look at the available used civic turbo if you’re fond of driving since its a powerful machine; can be tuned but would need to take a bit more care and I guess a slightly lower resale in the longer run but the driving experience is completely different as compared to the 1.8 na and is a very good option.

i understand parts need to be replace but as we know the known faults of civic, seem these faults are in the DNA of civic-x

Made a very silly mistake of buying a brand new ALtis 1.6 in 2019 , sold it 2 months later and bought a 2017 Civic X oriel.

Don't buy a altis 1.6 , no sunroof , no cruise control , no smart entry, no push start , no climate control ,no rear ac vents .ANCIENT 4speed automatic transmission with bad average , IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A BUTTON TO RETRACT ITS SIDE MIRRIORS! , imagine you have to get out of your car and manually fold your side mirrors with your hands one by one. You will hate and regret this decision everyday.
Better comparison would be between a grande and Civic X Oriel,

corolla enjoying the better resale, and i think civic is a cheaper option as compared to grande.

build quality of civicx is poor and it has many faults of steering rack and ac , even the paint peels off from plastic door handles at just 20 to 30k mileage..yes looks are nice but thats just about it..altis 1.6 will have less features but wont give any issue like civic will ..due to lower build quality the wear and tear on a 16 civic will be higher then on a corolla .

if you really want to go for civic then go for 2019 onwards they have slightly better quality ..im saying this as even facelift ones had the steering fault in many units. while grande 2017 onwards is all rounder better car from x. rest its your choice.

Mine developed steering rack issue which got claimed from factory , even tho the car was out of warranty but since it was maintained from dealership since delivery it was claimed and replaced at no cos to myself.
Other than that the battery went bad so replaced it form my own pocket , the silver on the inber door handles has started to fade and the black is starting to show , but enjoying my car all the same. It still looks very good shape wise and has all features that the current gen oriel has (Features wise)

Survey the market for Grande prices.

Mid 2016 Grande pre Facelift with immobilizer key n new climate control AC is as good as facelifted 2017 Grande.. go for that if you can’t find a good condition facelifted Grande.

Don’t buy Pre facelift Grande that does not have immobilizer key n new climate control AC.

Apart from this
Civic is also fine if you properly inspect it and its steering rack issue. Just ground clearance issue otherwise it’s a good car!
