Yup, this is me driving a 7 years old Prado TZ G in 2010 on Deosai Plains. Brand new tire cracked on off-road track, but Prado didn't give up. This is called reliability.

I too had the worst experience with a Mercedes and vowed never ever to buy it again for the mental torture it gave me. Just recently, i could have gone for a BMW X1 or an Audi Q2 but thankfully settled on Suzuki Vitara GLX......and i am so happy to make that decision....

I work in insursnce. The claim of a x5bmw showed these figures for a side mirror fix only. See the price of mirror and the whopping 8k labour just to install this thing

Good decision, Audi A3 is just a basic car with small engine and overpriced maintenance. It does not deserve 4 million price tag. I don't believe in wasting money just for the logo.
1,200 cc car in 4+ million is insanity. You will be better off buying Civic X with almost half the price and double the features, plus Honda reliability. Its also bigger than Audi A3.

Why did you compare the sales of a whole group with more than 8 car companies to toyota. Even then the figure is disputed because of sales vs deliveries dilemma.

Again, not everyone can afford a lamborgini. Now if we talk figures, in US as per 2016, toyota Suvs are way more sold than audi Suvs. There are people including me who find exclusivity in german engineering and could afford a bit high maintenance cost. I know multiple people in my circle who know their cars and have kept them in pristine condition ( mostly mercedes ). Land cruisers are highly over rated in Pakistan because of "waddi gadi" mentality. This is the sole reason many people here buy them.
P.S. this argument is not going anywhere. I will just abort it.
TLDR; You can not compare Audis or mercedes with toyota suvs. They are way too different.

CONCLUSION - I'd love to own an Audi but only when I know I have the equal amount sitting in my account "just-for-the-car", after all modern day cars are disposable. JDM's have their own problems but are more reliable in Pakistani environment and German cars are obviously going to cost more to maintain, this has always been the case. Locally assembled cars are crap, we've all seen what Toyota and Honda did to the buyers in the last few years, while Suzuki finally decided to give better door handles. If you want a nice reliable car under 2.5 mil, best is to self-import your own low mileage selected car from Japan. Companies like SBT, MDK, JanJapan and many more help you do that for a flat free to get your car on road. If your budget is between 3-4 mil, go for Vitara. If your budget is more than 4.5 mil, definitely go for a Fortuner. AND if you have an image to maintain - then GOD help you.

Buying a German car is one thing. Claiming they are built to last is total and utter stupidity. There was a time (long way back) when Germans car had longevity and reliability. Market dynamics have changed substantially post 2000s. The ownership cycle for majority of the buyers of these cars abroad is not more than 5 years. They lease the car, run it, dispose it off. It's a COMMODITY for them! This is why German cars depreciate quicker than sheet of A4 papers.

Pakistan is a microscopic market for these car and totally at odds with the rest of the world, here average ownership cycle of a car lasts 10+ years. The only luxury brands worth owning (if you want to own the car for a long time) is Lexus and Acura.

Next time anyone wants to boost about otherwise, please watch Youtube less, and spend more time in international owners forums (preferably in US, EU) talking to people.

Apparently the most important aspect of buying a premium vehicle in used condition is the SERVICE HISTORY.

I believe the same applies to Pakistan too. You will be shocked at the level of negligence these premium cars have suffered!

Although it may cost more intially, i would advise getting in touch with an Audi Pakistan sales representative and ask him to find you a good used one.

You can assess the vehicle's service record and history because they will try and find you such a vehicle that has been maintained by them and is trouble free. Secondly, a lot of existing customers just ask the dealership to sell their vehicle for them.
