Is Buying a New bike in this economic condition a good decision?

Good day everyone.

My daily travel routine in karachi is about 30-35kms in total and I am looking for a comfortable ride considering the current road situation.

Is it a good option to buy bike in the current economic condition ?

I shortlisted the following bikes:
1. Cb150f
2. GR150
3. Ybr125g

The first option is close to my heart though;)

Honestly, I have driven all the bikes. All are super great bikes.

You can buy old bikes, but please do not rush. Check every single option. My advice would be to follow these checklists if possible.
- Less than 10,000 KM
- Does owner keep it fully maintained?
- Not older than 2021.

This will save you alot of problems already.

My advice would be for YBR125G and use Liqui Moly Engine Oil. Your entire day travel will be covered in just 600-700mL Petrol even in stuck traffic conditions.

GR150 on the other hand is slightly more silent but very expensive to maintain and stupidity to have one. Not that economical.

Honda CB150F has a great ride. But believe me (when in traffic) it's pretty hard to (normally) cut through the lines. It's very heavy. And sometimes engine gets hot in May & June (when stuck in traffic). And fuel economy is ideally around 30-32Km/ltr at avg 60KM/ltr. Worse in Traffic.

So I can guarantee YBR 125G offers much valuable ride with comfortability, maintenance and economy.

I was thinking to get a new bike as I see risks in used bike that we never know what would be inside or happened with that bike in past. Taking mechanic for evaluation is a good option but still few things remain questionable.

Furthermore, What about buying a new/old bike in this economic uncertainty? Would it be good to wait or get it as the prices are likely to increase more?

125 cc bike snatching is new common, a charm.

for fuel economy and daily commute buy a chinese 70 use for 1 year dispose of at the buying price get another one. your investment will be safe if depreciation of currency does not stabilize. NEW 125 CC bikes are thief charmer can be chopped down and disappear in under 30 minutes.

I think prices will never come down. It will keep increasing.
The decision should be made based on the need only basis during this economic situation. If you really need a new bike, then go ahead and buy. This isn't the right time to change bikes/vehicles just for chaska due to soaring prices. If you have a good bike at home, then keep using that. If not, then buy it asap. Don't wait.

i am in few khi groups
now after snatching mobile and wallet, they at times take away bikes as well from people

in my opinion, yes
recently got ybr esd in Jan 2023, done 2k kms so far
as compared to car, bike costs nothing
engine oil, 1800-2000 rs (10w40 fully synthetic, 3k kms interval)
air filter is like 7-800 rs (6k interval)
fuel avg for combined 2k kms is 45.19km/L (in Lhr traffic)
brake pads are in +-3k range
so overall maintenance and running costs are on lower side as compared to car
(I'm from Lhr so there are no such issues like snatching etc, if you're from karachi, keep that in mind too)

I got ybr, will recommend you same, either ESD or G

yes. my family member bought brand new gs150se and it got snatched the second month in Korangi. it was insured and he got almost 90% of sum insured (as per market value of bike at that time). usually honda bikes are being denied but not others

Brother, every biker has its own choice & taste but in current economic condition.
If you have old model then compare the features & durability with latest one.
if you feel new features in brand new bike then see some factors is it value to money because every company increased its prices due to dollar conversion rate & launched new model without new feature or option just changed the graphic is traditional.
My suggestion if you owned accurate & maintained bike then just upgrade the bike with after market accessories & add value in your bike. & enjoy the ride n experience

As you know street crimes, bike snatching are on its peak

so, avoid invest your cash in expensive bike.
upgrade your ride.
