Is buying Margalla 1995 model a good idea?

Dear friends,

I have been very inconsistent about deciding what car would suit me with my low budget i.e. 3 to 3.3 lacs. Finally, I have come to the conclusion that a clean Margalla is only sedan that I can buy in this budget. The approximate cost is up to 3 lacs and of course, I will need to spend some extra bucks to get in shape as per my requirement.

Now, my question to you is, if this is a good idea to buy the one with original paint (little faded but no touch up)! I saw one last night and it seems pretty decent. Please give me your valuable feedback.

By the way I am from Karachi. Just in case if anyone living in Karachi can give me better advice.

Its to old. Engines built to last for 100,000. Locals roads and fuel and weather reduce car life. Low to zero maintenance further reduces car life. Buy newer car and get a bank to Islamic finance it. Pay what you have and remainder adjust in monthly payments. Islamic finance is better. Or buy bike.

Go to itwar bazar of UP Mor and you will find hundreds of cars in this range...buy that is good engine and body wise...

Thanks for your valuable feedback. I have been visiting Sunday Bazar for more than a month and what I have noticed that cars there are overpriced, tempered (deceiving) or sold by agents who are not trustworthy.

I had almost made a deal with one person for a Coure 2005 for 3.5lacs, but a couple of experts who inspected the car told me it was a rip off. The car had suffered with major accident and pillars were repaired. Hence, I called off the deal.

One of the people I know, knows someone who has 1995 maragalla as a spare car, carefully driven with original paint, little wear and tear but no touch ups. Asking price is 3lacs that are little negotiable. What do you think should I go for that?

its awesome car, i kept it for 2 years...and sold it...only problem is little bit resale issue...

rest this car is awsome in drive, road grip, etc.

next thing you can do is to buy mehran, and then make some savings, then buy older model vitz in 6 - 7 lack range.....and keep on growing like this...

A huh! I am not worried about its resale as long as it's a trouble free car with comparatively low maintenance cost.

Mehran as per what I know is not a comfortable car especially in Karachi where we see pot holes and bumpy roads.

please share your experience with your car that once you had.

mehran is the only cheap vehical here...i think

rest cheap parts of margalla are available...its a sister of cultus....e.g. a side mirror costs 5 - 6 hundred and the orignal one with motor costs 2000 above,

rest cables, plugs , oils are at same rate.....

this car is very solid and stable at high speeds...if you want luxury at low price, go for it...

by the way i forgot to mention, baleno is also a very good car and much better than margalla...you can get it within 4 - 5 lack range older models, but newer than maragalla....its efi and will give you good avg with ac as welll...

Thanks. I have made up my mind. I am going for maragalla now. At least it is a trouble free car and parts are easily available. a couple of mechanics have also encouraged me to go for it. Wish me best of luck. I am going for a test drive and inspection with my friend who deals in cars and my mechanic. Let's see what happens.

Yeah he should go for something in the 2000s. 95 is too old. 300,000 for four wheels, due devaluation of rupee and badmashi.

You guys are right. Buying margalla didn't appeal to me either, but when I saw it I couldn't resist buying it.

It's 1996 model, cng installed but not connected, ran on petrol only and was kept as 4th car (Cygnus, Reborn and Mira es are 1st 3 cars) Never showered and got touch ups and is till in original colour with no rust at all, though it was dusty due to not in use. Plus engine and engine room is in pristine condition. foundation and trunk are rust free and never altered, Water dropping engine with half self start, chilled ac, only water body barring seems to be making slight noise, hence needs replacement. all head back lights bumpers and tail are original (factory fitted).

What do you guys say now?

I bought it last week. But now it's being given final touch ups before I drive it for my daily use.
