Is DAEWOO RACER worth buying?

Hello,
After driving Charade 84 on CNG for a while, i am missing storage space. So I want to buy a saloon to have CNG and some storage space as well.Problem is that the only saloon which fits in my budget(Rs 200,000) is Daewoo racer. Somehow everybody i talk to about this is against this idea. Ppl say that it has design problems (brakes,engine and stuff). I myself drove it once and found it pretty acceptable. Any suggestions?

I bought a Zero meter Daewoo in 1996 and I still have it after almost 9 years and done just 127000 Kms.Still very satisfied...good steering control excellent road grip and excellent ruinning with 60 litre CNG cylinder.No problem with routine parts.Till date I am regular with timely oil and filter change.have changed timing belt twice and thats all.As regards brakes yes you have to get them serivced every six months as a routine to be on safe side.You will however have to be very careful in selecting the car.I personally feel you should try and spend a little more and get the quota that was released in 2001/2.for rs 200,000 you are likey to get junk.make sure its not a taxi auctioned by a bank.

its a very good specially if u have a tight bugdet then it is the bargain
1. i owned one for many years ..had it zero meter and it was still touching 190km/h even after 200,000 km on its tach

1. dont go for stupid peoples advice but do buy a new car ... it has to be around 300,000 with Cng...and shudnt be more then 50,000km driven . and the main thing is that it has gotr a sensitive wiring so any car with messed up wiring is a bad news for you...

2. TECH details are
   General Motors Sfi (single fuel injhection Engine
   Delco Rami CAT generator for electricity ...will give you life time service
   Timing belt rotates the waterbody so very reliabvle incase of belt loss...
   The timings are cross linked which can be changed wasily and the problem of skiding could be taken care of
   has got very rugged ball joints and suspension is one heck of a Thing(Best)
   Mileage is very good
   Spares are not as expensive as people sy ...just go and check for yourself

Its a good car considering the 2 lacs....

THERE IS NO PROB BCOZ I HAVE DAEWOO RACER 93 IT IS BEST BCOZ I CHANGED ITS ENGINE ....AND NOW IT CONTAIN (corolla88)ENGINE WITH CNG --------------ITS BEST --------------------

Is installation of tayota engine simple or requires modifications to mounts? Y u had to change ur engine?

Hi yaar I think in two lac u can buy Daewoo as well as Hyndai both are good ther is not a problem in spare parts o0r any other stuff coz if u c most of Taxis are Daewoo or Hyndai, this show that there is no problem in resale & Parts. The Good this is that daewoo is EFI & its drive is very soft & Smooth, Go ahead for Daewoo.

I would prefer Hyandai coz its drive and shape.....but with in 2 lac i would prefer japneese car if u can get civic 85 or nissan 84 with cng its more reliable then daewoo...but i m not sure tht u can get daewoo with in 2 lac coz my cousin sold daewoo last year in 2.75 lacs..average condition
