Is Honda I-DSI really a fuel efficient engine?

Is Honda I-DSI really a fuel efficient engine?
I personal have never seen any Honda car with I-DSI engine but I hear talk all the time on pakwheels.com about Honda city I-DSI engine. I was just doing some little research about the I-DSI engine just to get better understanding of the product. While looking for information, I came through Honda.co.uk. Honda uk is offering 1.4 I-DSI engine and 1.8 i-vtec engine in all new civic. 1.4 I-DSI engine produces about 82hp, gas mileage 46.3 com and 0 to 60 in 14.2. On the other hand 1.8 i-vtec engine produces about 138hp, gas mileage 44.1 com and 0 to 60 in 8.6. I personal think why would anyone buy 1.4 I-DSI engine over 1.8 i-vtec engine. What say u people?

I think I-DSI engine was not a good idea by Honda.. there is lot of difference in performance between I-DSI and other Honda engines.. take an example of new city and previous one..and bottom line is this that while compromising so much on performance..its not that extra ordinary fuel efficient either.. I was searching on the same topic few days back and found that whereever Honda first introduced I-DSI engines.. people were disappointed.. like Philipppines, India and other asian countries therefore Honda reintroduced non IDSI engines in almost every country where IDSI was introduced.. latest I heard was India where VTEC again has been introduced in City.

yeah the engine is fuel efficient but not as it was designed.....8V Sequencial ignition engine is not a good idea in twin cam 16V engine generation....where engines are coming with almost twin cams and 16V and other valve lifting techniques like VVT-i CVTC and VTEC....i think city in future comes with i-Vtec engines...I-vtec was available in foriegn countries in City but not here in pakistan....

There are technical limitations due to which I-DSI can never be a VTEC or a DOHC...

Might be that is the reason Honda is gona provide choice of DSI and VTEC engine in upcoming CITY, one can choose between 1.5 DSI or 1.5 Vtec .

tech_wiz...who said i-dsi can be Vtec or DOHC....its all over i-dsi...in foriegn it comes with Vtec engines B16 or what its no is???here in some asian countries...its available also in I-dsi as well as with Vtec....in pakistan.....only i-dsi....
i think 2006 maybe with Vtec ones...
