Is it a requirement to change fuel strainer?

@Xulfiqar and others. My Axio 2007 is about to reach 150k. May end up changing the Fuel Filter. What I am concerned about is the Fuel strainer itself, the Fuel strainer which is directly attached to the Fuel pump is obviously going to be dirty too and there is no Genuine replacement for it alone unless you buy the Fuel pump too. It comes attached to the new Fuel pump with Part No. 23220-22120.

I have checked with Toyota Dealerships here, they do have the Strainer available separately for about 1800 Rupees but they also said that its not a Genuine part. Genuine only comes with the complete Fuel pump purchase.

So then, should I be changing the Fuel strainer too? with a non-Genuine but clean... or keep using the old one.

fuel strainer, and main filter assembly is recommended to be changed at 250,000 kms or whenever the fuel pump unit assembly is replaced due to failure/debris etc.

Interesting. So this stands for our Pakistani fuel too? Because people suggest changing from 70,000 km to 150,000 km.

Also, any tests that can be done to know whether fuel filter is blocked? While the drive and pick is normal, Car one night decided not to start on me. It just appeared like there's no fuel. After cranking the engine every few minutes for 30 minutes, engine started but just barely. A few pedal pushes and it was normal. Never had the issue again since then.

So someone suggested it happened because of a fuel filter.

P.S. I have been using Shell Ultra 5W-40 oil since I got the car at 20k. No oil reduction and engine seems to be okay. Should I keep using 5W-40 or change to something else now considering the 150k run time?

5w-40 is all good for her

I dont think Pakistani fuel has twigs or leaves in it. the strainer life is pretty long.
