Is it okay to put 205s in corolla xli?

Guys i wanted to know is that fine to put 205s in a corolla xli? i mean would there be any extra fuel consumption or would it damage the engine in the long run or the suspension? Your suggestion would be appreciated. Also tell me which tyres should i get with the genuine 14" rims.

no dont go for 205 .steering would be hard as a rock go for 185 /70/14 that would be better.i have 195/70/14 and the steering is very hard.but if you have org general tyres used them till 20 k and than changed them .they are prety good tyres .but if yo wona change your tyres go for yokohom they are prety soft.rember profile should be 70 not more or less .if its less car will be low .so these are the tyre no you should go for....

1.185/70/14
2.195/65/15
3.195/60/16 or 205/55/16 (it will damage every thing.)

i prsonally ran 205/65/r15 in my gli for 65k km... note that with 65 profile it is a massive tire... ran without a problem, no hard stearing.. but after i got cng the rear tire used to hit the side of the wheel arch, so when they wore out i switched back to 196/65/r15 and this is the tire i will recommend you....

Brother. I am using 205/65/14 in my XLi with genuine steel rims. Tyre brand is Dunlop ECO. These tire are trouble free and have very good griop. No hard steering problem. Everything is ok. No need to worry. I would like to recommend the same to you. No fender touching problem.

thanks guys. actually today i got these Yokohama A300 205/65R15 in my car. the steering isnt very hard. the grip is nice. runs very stable at high speeds. will post some pics later.
P.S. i changed the wheels to 15 inchers. got these black n silver alloys.
