Is mixing Hi-Octane with super is helpful to clean old engine?

I would like to know is it advicable to use like 15 to 20 % of hi-octane with super petrol in order to clean the engine of old carby cars?

The reason i am asking is that after long time i start my car petrol connection and it is slightly mixing on petrol so will that help if i mix 15 to 20 % of Hi-Octane with super petrol?

will it give any negative effect?

Hi Octane is not detergent .. you have copied this from your thread ... i guess the person who mentioned that has some other thing in mind

yes hi octane is better fuel .. u can use it with some ratio .. but hi octane will not makes any miracle with your carburetor

u just need to get your carb checked and get it serviced .. if required get your carb butterfly repaired..

its look like u just drive your on CNG .. do check the fuel in tank .. as it might be expired and can choked the valve as well

hi octane is a better fuel for sure,but it does help in removing some carbon deposits,
i use it to do the same,i fill up 1k worth octane n use it till it lasts

but hi octane cannot clean the blocked lines/ slow jet of carburetor ..

i again repeat get your fuel tank checked .. there is a chance that your fuel is now expired and changes its property

Dear Scorpion

As for Carb issue surely i will check with other and go to Carby guy, once again thanks for you advice.

Let me make my story short:

• Recently i did some work in my engine, changes its rings because one ring was make sound, one value was also not moving freely, change seals and things that are working fine did not change it . (because of low budget)

• After that mechanic advice me to better run few hundred km on petrol and for that purpose new fuel pump was install but he did not connected the fuel pump with fuel tank, because i know my fuel tank was not in good shap so he make temp arrangment adjecent to driving seat (3 litter can with pipe connected to fuel pump).

• On day first it was missing alot specially from slow speed if you pick up but again visited he did some adjustment now its better than before.

• The reason to ask them mixing of Hi-OCt + Super is to clean the engine parts but as you and other suggected that it does not have any effect on it .

• For your info currently in 1.5 litter i coverd around 13 to 14 km with speed around 60 to 70 km in the morning

Once carby is checked i will install new fuel tank which is around 1500 and new line and new filter to make the connection perfect.

Based on the stroy mention below is it advicable to use Hi - Octane just few days in order (100 octane) till the engine become smooth?

Willl it have any negative effect ?

Hi Octane fuel reduces engine knocking in the modern engines, but we should not use it for the engine which can run on less octane fuel as we shall only waste money but we will have some piece of mind that we have filled with high octane. 2nd thing there are some cleaning addetives in the petrol to clean but If the carburator is dirty so get it serviced or use some fuel treatment addative as it is available in the market like STP or other brands are available.

15km in 1.5 liter....your car is DRINKING petrol and has a serious problem with it.

1. Good fuel economy for petrol requires ignition timing to be set properly.

2. You need to get your fuel tank cleaned out, and put new fuel in it. Using fuel from a can in the passenger compartment is a recipe for disaster.

3. Get problems in your carburetor sorted out. It isn't always a butterfly repair issue. Sometimes its just tuning and adjustment.

4. Mechanics just love to put the radiator fan on direct mode. Make sure it is working properly (automatically switch on only when hot).

Get these things done and it should run like a charm if there aren't any other mechanical problems.

Additionally i spoke with other mechanic and it is giving me 10 km in 1 litter in that case he told me that most like you only need carbutor service.

13 with gentle acceleration with speed between 60 to 70 otherwise you will have 11kmpl milage. this is my experience on a Mehran.

On a healthy engine (good carburetor, good engine, proper distributor etc) 15km/L easy - within city. Its only 800cc so that should be a bare minimum.

I run my car on hi-octane only 3 litters but after that it start giving misfire seems like carbon deposit comes on plugs or carburator got dirty.

please advice what should i do, either go to for tunning ?

Check your car's manual for fuel type and what kind of RON level does it require. i did it for a corolla 2009 model. it's manual says Ron level required is 91 or higher. The following are calculations for the bare minimum level of hi-oct you should use in your car as per requirements.

Super Liters = X
HC liters = Y
RON=87,97
Required level=91

X+Y=55 (55 liter tank capacity)
(87X+97Y)/(X+Y)=91

X=55-Y

87(55-Y)+97Y=91(55-Y)+91Y
4785-87Y+97Y=5005
10Y=200
Y=22
X=33

so 22 liter of Hi Oct and 33 liter of Super/Regular/Premium is required fuel for which the engine is designed.
