Is Pakistan's transport sector on decline?

Hi everyone reading this,
If you one of the regular travelers around the country on inter city public transport, you might have noticed that it seems little difficult to find a seat as compared to 3-4 years back.
I've noticed this in various cities and almost all type of buses (from Daewoo to local). What I could understand from the scenario is that number of buses have not increased according to population increase.
I feel there is huge gap for someone to start a transport business.
Have anyone else noted this? What are your views?

Yes you are right and I agree that transportation facilities are not increasing according to the population. But 2 additional factors are the down fall of Pakistan Railways and centralization of resources to few major cities.

Railway in any country is backbone both for passengers movement and luggage transportation. If PR improves we can get rid of more than half of the buses and trucks on the road.

Similarly in the past, law and order situation was not so good in the country. People felt insecure and any one who could afford moved to major cities (except Karachi). This situation force our working class to move to these cities too, to earn something. Now every second person either works in main city or has relatives there. Because of which now more people travel from city to city as compared to the past.

These lags in transport sector has also made it a great market for someone new to come in.

Your definition of "transport" is limited to road transport. Air and rail also exists and has taken a chunk back from road transport mafia.

Rail traffic.

Air traffic:

I also pointed the railway out. Initial comment was about the public transport and air travel is not so public here.

I totally agree that railway has improved. But if you visit bus stands of rural areas, still there are a lot of people preferring road transport.
My point is that road transport services have been on the lower side. I am not saying that passenger of road transport has declined. Still there are more passengers than current capacity of road transport sector.
Current transport mafia, by deciding not to facilitate customers, have created a huge gap for some new player to wipe them off.

Across the globe Government(s) are to establish road network for mass transit and private sector invest in the buses coaches, trams & train etc.

The Cartel of Bus & Tanker Mafia destroyed the Pakistan Railway.

The Cartel of Motor Bike manufacturers are funding Govt Individuals not to develop infrastructure for mass transit system in Metro cities of Pakistan

with a motorbike available for down payment of Rs. 5000 and Rs. 1500 a month as monthly installment it is a not at all objective of Government to provide Transport to masses.

look around, rowdy motor bikers go around swinging between cars, trucks, buses tongas' like their ass is on fire. 95% of motor biker owners does not have Genuine Driving license, neither they have any training to keep balance while manoeuvring around at low speeds. and the best part is they flock like vultures to engage in brawl when they destroy somebody's car, suv, truck on the roads.

When they slip and fracture their bones they are the most ... poor life which exist over the planet do all possible efforts for money extortion from nearest vehicle which stop for them.
