Is Suzuki Baleno a Problem on CNG?

I'm considering to buy a Suzuki Baleno early models but many people asking me not to buy it because it misfires a lot on CNG and ultimately breaks down major operating parts of engine, is it any true??

I have Owned Suzuki Baleno JXR 2005 for 3 Months and sell it due to CNG Setting disturbance and misfires... I really disappointed from Baleno and nowadays I am Extremely happy with Margalla!!! So Go For Carby Baleno in Early Models!!

baleno never came with a carby engine. the engine options were 1.3 and 1.6 gti. the gti came till i guess 2000.
balenos are known to b problematic on cng.

baleno has no prob on cng use 2 baleno 99 n 04 both on cng 04 was on ff n 99 after market no issues at all

I am Alhamdulillah a very happy and satisfied user of Baleno. Haven't come across to any problem famous in Balenos.

Its simply the best and the worst car on CNG of its times, (all balenos)

Best as it drives and gives the best mileage on CNG in its class.

Worst, the ignition coils make it a very problematic car, But Once you replace the coils it a-okay, Dont wash the ignition coils, even if u wash them, Dry them before use. (which means washing the engine isnt recomened nor is it of any use)

A brand new Genuine set of Coils and wires comes around 18k
Malaysian around 7.5k
Pakistani around 5k
Scrap market used genuine sets are around 7.5k

A genuine set easily last more then 100k kms if u maintain ur car, and change spark plugs accordingly.

Another issue with Baleno is that the front lower arms, (keinchiyan they need to be replaced if bushes wear out, Genuine ones cost 18k a set (mostly not awailable, Taiwan set costs around 5k).

PS: the coils issue can arrise in any car, Yes very common in Lancer/Santro/Baleno due to waste spark system, But can come in any car.

Corolla and Civic have four coils, Corollas each coil costs around 6k, While if u see Balenos each cost around 8k and Rs.2200 for the wires

oh, i thot mostly in all cars only bushes need to be replaced my bad then

The whole arm is changed if the ball joint becomes very loose.

i've owned an 05 JXR and it has done approximately 74k happy cng miles. initially the backfiring issue was there but that was resolved by use of better spark plugs and PROPPER fitting of the plastic cover of the air filter box. the car is bound to backfire if the air filter cover is not sealed in place properly.

Do u even know why does the car actualy backfire?

1) The waste spark means, that only 2 coils are working, the current wasted is transfered to the other cylinders.

2) If the Petrol/air mixture isnt burned as it should be it back fires, hence the explosion being made in the engine is made at the airfilter box.

3) So tightening the airfilter box is not the solution, its just a jugaar. Which can even cause the spark plug to shoot out and cause damage to ur plug wire + the bonnet and the rings in the head too. (has happened with me)

Using proper plugs i.e strong/clean plugs is a better solution. NGK bkr6E work very gud, but if ure using 4 pin spark plugs they would initialy give u great out put but with time suck life out of the coils.

Either use NGK bkr4E or else Denso Ik-20 (iridium plugs)

many people would say ik-20, :S Even a 1.6 Corolla uses ik-16, So people this is a waste spark system requires more current, and is recomended as OEM on Denso website

models from 99-01 are spark wires models.. and from 2002 and onwards (since the facelift) is spart coils model.. it needs to be kept carefully and well maintained like chinyoti explained in detail, and it wont give any trouble.. however, my baleno doesnt give a good mileage with ac, 95kms in general 100kms in city at max if i never ever ever let the rpm go above 2, in one cylender..
