Is this a Dual Carburetor Honda engine or not?

I checked my '88 Civic's engine code and it said "D15B". I looked it up on wikipedia and it says:

I dont think its the VTEC version but I dont have much knowledge in this regard so I thought I might as well ask you guys. As it says above in the first D15B part, it should have Dual Carburetors. But I cant figure out if my engine has dual carbs or not neither can I figure out if its VTEC or not. Also, how good is this engine? Pictures attached, Let me know if you want any more pictures of a specific area. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

its a cab version so no vtec solenoid...

So is it the one mentioned above? Is it the dual carburetor or not? That's what is confusing me because the model number D15B corresponds to a dual carb engine

All Honda engines targeted for Japanese market were stamped with only 4 letter engine code like: D15b, D17a, H22a, F20b, etc.

Engines for other markets have a model specific consigned letter like: D15b3, D17a1, H22a2, F22b1, etc

Now lets come to yours: it is a swapped from 96-99 Exi engine with your stock carburetor. Google 'Honda D15 dual carb' and you'll see the difference.

So, is it a JDM engine? and can I remove the stock carb and install a dual one as it was originally intended? How much would that affect the performance and power? My car doesnt kind of give its full power, like it doesnt go above ~5500rpm in gears, but it does touch the red line in Neutral. Could that be due to the reason that the engine is connected with a single carb instead of dual as it was intended to?

your carburettor is dual throat, it has a primary throttle valve which is controlled by your accelerator cable and a secondary throttle controlled by the vacuum signal in the primary throat.

The Honda dual carb setup is usually messed up and requires a vacuum gauge setup to balance out (ask sports bike mechanics if they have it). If you are DIY type person then you can dive into adjusting the twin carbs, In twin carburettor case the engine feels a bit dead from 1000-2500 rpm, It will start to show some power at high rpm that is where the short ram intake and dual carburettors shine.

Your engine will work on this single carburettor if you clean, inspect and adjust it correctly.

Check your secondary throttle opener - and try to accelerate the car at full throttle. if it balks and hesitates, your secondary is not opening or your distributor is bad.

First things first: let go the single-dual crab thingy. This isn't a dual crab engine. Did you read my last post, pal?

Now, it could very well b because of low fuel pressure or even a worn clutch.
Do you feel any kind of hiccups or misfires when running at high RPMS, say 5000? Or is it all smooth but doesn't rev much high?

Also check if your getting full throttle and cable is adjusted correctly ..

Now I get it, the specs I mentioned above say:

I guess this is the fuel injected (EFI) variant. Correct me if Im wrong about that. So, can I install the EFi system for fuel injection and remove the carb? and how much would that cost me, would that improve the performance and/or economy?
And, No there arent any hiccups, its smooth but just doesnt go above ~5500RPM.

As uiv said, some one swapped its head n block with d15b, 96-99 civic EXI variant, n let the ustaad do the ustadi that he let it runs like carby engine do.

There's a long list of parts for EFi conversion:

ECU + Wiring + distributor (auto tranny ones): 7-10k
Intake manifold + fuel rail + throttle + knock sensor: 6-9k
Fuel pump in tank + air cleaner box: 4-5k
Labor: 3-4k

So, it'd cost you around 20-25k, and it's all useless if you drive on CNG. It wouldn't make much difference on performance either- and economy depends upon how often you use your left foot, how light you are on your right one and how much you can avoid the middle one.

Hence, to sum up: you're better off with your craby system.

Looking forward to get this system installed if it doesn't cost me a fortune.

Dual crabs are actually much cheaper than your single one. Any shop keeper would more than happily exchange your parts with dual crab system for little or even no money.
