Is ZIC the best GL4 Gear Oil?

I have asked a few people and they told me ZIC Gear EP is only best GL4 in open market...

Is that true or are there some other options ??

i have heard that there is a japanese gear oil @rs.1200 per liter,goes on for 1 lac kms. is that true?

after running 1000 or 1200 zic oil get dry. iwas using this oil in my santro after 2 weeks i feel my car sound changed and pick changed i went to hyundai showroom when they check oil it was dried on the spot another guy came and said i have same this pro when we check oil in his there was few drops left in engine so it get dry and ive heared from some other ppl that zic oil has this pro. so ill say 2 u guyz dnt take risk with ur engines.wasay u guyz r much experiance then me i just share my experiance

Hi.....

Well I have some information about ZIC gear Oils.

The EP oil which you have mentioned is a heavy machinery oiland I am not sure if that is good for the front wheel vehicles.

There is another called ZIC FF which I suppose is for front wheel vehicles manual transmission! and it is GL-4 as well.

The best thing would be to check the manual for the viscocity which is required by your vehicle meaning SAE-- and then select the appropriate ZIC gear oil.

But still I would say that ZIC FF is designed for front wheel drive vehicles!

My car's manual says the oil should be API-GL4 only

ZIC Gear EP is GL4 with EP additives... ZIC FF is without this additive

I used Shell SPIRAX... and now my gear shifting is hard and rough...

You said that your car manual tells you to use API GL-4, however zic gear EP has different viscocities eg SAE75W80, 80w90, 80W, 90, 140.

On the other hand Zic Gear FF has only one viscocity ie SAE 75W85 and the dealer who was selling the product said that FF is made for car gears.

I should mention here that when I read the Zic catalog it said:
Gear FF: provides outstanding performance in most gear applications and that it meets the specifications of various passenger cars that are in mild, moderate and severe conditions.
Gear EP: provides outstanding performance in most gear applications meeting many service gear oil needs of Passenger cars, Trucks and Buses and other vehicles that are in moderate service conditions.

both ZIC FF and ZIC EP are API GL-4

SUMMARY: I think the ZIC FF will be a better option for your car and as you said that gears of your car became harder I think the ZIC FF will be a better choice.

Glad that you shared your experience by using ZIC engine oil.

It is very surprising to know that engine oil dried out in your engine. As ZIC claims that there oil have a very high viscocity index (VHVI), so it doesn't evaporate that easily.

ZIC is supposed to be very good oil and it is made by Koreans who take their work very seriously and are reliable.

A friend shared that his car gives white smoke when he converted to ZIC engine oil on his mehran.

Called ZIC pple and they said that as ZIC cleans your engine therefore you will get optimum results after 2-3 oil changes!!

Did you perform 2 or 3 oil changes with ZIC. One more important thing is that did you buy the original ZIC engine oil?

Alot of people will be using ZIC engine oils on this forum so I guess we should start a thread of ZIC engine oil experiences separately to know about the real world feed back from people?

But My friends According to our Chacha g Driver at our office driving from last 56 Years as b4 in Army n thn in Saudia after Retirement n now with us told that donot Change Gear Oil just add the Amount Decreased as he told that thats was the lesson taught to thm in Army in thn he Experienced it himself.

I have the deepest of respects for experience of the gentle man you are refering too............and he has shared his experience......there is no shortcut to gaining experience!

But why does the owner's manual tell us to change the gear oil every 40K km? I guess the owner's manual is made by the people who manufacture our cars and they are supposed to know a little bit about the cars they make!

As far is the ZIC FF gear oil is concerned, read the following thread where a member changed to ZIC FF, but had doubts.

All the doubts were cleared after using the ZIC FF for his GLi

ZIC has many types of Engine Oils

ZIC HIFLO is Normal Quality Oil and it is cheap, made for Old Engines
ZIC A+ and ZIC XQ are High Quality Oils
Your Oil Experience will be different if you use different quality ZIC Oil.

Similarly all Engine oil manufacturers have low to high quality oils depending on price.

Please beware. Many (2 no) copies of highly selling Oils like ZIC, Caltex and Shell are available in market.
If you have bad experience with ZIC, how can you say that ZIC Oil from which you are not satisfied was original.

According to my Experience, ZIC is best oil in Pakistani Market.
"Fully synthetic" oils of ZIC are best amoung all ZIC Oils so please use them.
Always buy original and high quality oils from authorized dealers.
