Got back at 11 pm. Mission accomplished. Tents handed over at nowshera, food items given and lungar arranged in school headed by major sahab in pustoon ghari. Medical camp set at a near by town and treated over 250 people with 5 doctors and plenty of medicines. Water distribution done by jadoon's at major sahab place in pushtoon ghari as well.
Highly greatfull to those who made it at the time of need.

Detailed report will be submitted by Asad with pictures which are a eye openers for us. Wat ever we do, we can never do enuff for these people. In this time of need each n everyone of us has to contribute in all posible ways we can.

We had to split the convoy in 2 teams... one was to depart early with tents since it was destined to reach Ghafoor khan village near Charsadda. 40 mud houses had caved in and the inmates were sitting in open with downpour still lashing. TLC, Untame and myself left <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<st1:place w:st="on">Islamabad</st1:place></st1:City> at 7:30 am for pindi. Loaded Shahzore with tents and left for Charsadda. It was raining throughout. <st1:place w:st="on">Indus</st1:place> river at midway was in its full swing and was pounding against one last structure that was presumably on a high ground. By now nothing would be left, I am sure. Anyway we reached Charsadda as per scheduled. <o:p></o:p>

Laparwah and another friend was waiting on the roadside. From there we went directly to the village that needed tents. The situation was heart piercing. Men women and children in open sky in heavy rain. During tent distribution commotion was witnessed but that was somehow controlled by our local strongman Mr. Mansoor. We could only distribute 35 tents since these were the only ready on such a short notice. Probably we would need another 20-30 to cater for this village. <o:p></o:p>
in the meanwhile the second team lead by Jadun snr and junior left <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Islamabad</st1:place></st1:City> with two loaded Shahzore carrying 150 jerry cans of purified water and purification tablets. <o:p></o:p>

A colleague from PMCL, Mr. Ammad Ali was heading the 3<SUP>rd</SUP> team wherein he was supposed to get the remaining 5 tents, food items, cooked food and miscellaneous. <o:p></o:p>
Our Medical team was headed by Mr. Khalid Shoaib who is a fellow ham radio. He also joined us at Mardan interchange with a group of Doctors, <st1:place w:st="on">Para</st1:place> medics and loads of medicine. <o:p></o:p>

Entire convoy left for Pushtoon garhi around midday. Upon reaching we were greeted by Major Saboor who is running the relief operation in that area in his personal capacity. A safe storage room was provided to us where we offloaded treated water. <o:p></o:p>
Medical team was dispatched to another adjoining area called Zakhi Qabaristan. This was completely unattended in terms of medical help. The camp was established in one of the standing structure and announcement was made in the mosque for asking all those that needed medical help. Separate place was provided for the women folk. <o:p></o:p>

More the 250 patients were treated with majority complaining gastro and skin related issues. Our team of Doctors were Bravo...too good and efficient. Special thanks to them for making such an effort. <o:p></o:p>

Ammad Ali with food items reached Pushtoon Garhi in the afternoon where by ready made food was distributed amongst the affectees. I must mention here that Savor food Rawalpindi was kind enough to provide us 280 packs of cooked rice with Kebab in it Free Of any Charges. <o:p></o:p>
The remaining food items were 200 kg Potato and 150 kg pulses with onion, oil and tomatoes. The above quantity can cater for 150 people for 10 days.<o:p></o:p>
Anyhow, the medical camp finished after sunset and we left Zakhi village with the rest of the teams at around 8ish for <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Islamabad</st1:place></st1:City>. <o:p></o:p>

Next visit to the area would be on coming Saturday. Would request fellow Pakwheelers and friends to continue with the donation collection efforts. This is a very poor locality and I don’t see them coming back to their feet just like that. <o:p></o:p>

Myself and Siddique along with a friend Asalan, went to Dharkhanawal again yesterday.

Basic aim was to establish basic SOPs and procedures for the Lungar and to reach the poorest of the poor in the region.

Shahid bhai had already done his homework when we reached at about 10 pm. Two Daigs of Pullao were already cooked. We picked up a local 'doctor' as well and headed towards our target village of Islamabad Town. This we had already shortlisted in our previous trip. It took our 3 horse carts (loaded with daigs, peope, a few medicines and a lot of clothes that I had taken fro here) about 45 minutes of offroad, deep water hauling to reach the place. When we did, we knew instantly that we were where we should be. This was the poorest area around. all mud houses (some had fallen), lots of cattle and about 700-800 people who had not been reached by anyone till now.
We gathered most of them and tried to form a line. Arsalan and Shahid bhai were at the registration charpai and did a wonderful job carefully taking down names, CNIC numbers and details of the number of dependents in the form of a list. They also marked 5 or six widows in area as well as one handicapped person.
Lungar was distributed from atop one of the horse carts by Siddique, Shah and a couple of other helpers. All registered families got one pack of pullao only because thats all we had taken along with us. Meanwhile our doctor, to my surprise and a pleasant one at that, was busy seeing patients on the next horse cart. He managed to see and give medicines to about 120 patients. Hats off to him. He did not charge us anything.
After that, we decided to give away the clothes. We called all the 6 widows ahead first and distributed to them what they needed in terms of clothes. We distributed a few more clothes but had to move out because of falling light.

Future plan here:
We will continue supply of food to Islamabad, increasing the quantity gradually as our funds and supplies permit. Today, Shahid bhai will be taking 5 Daigs to the place IA. Will get a report tonight on that. I will do a write up for Lungar SOPs that we have put in place here and that can be applied to other places as well IA.
