Islamabad Registration Number Plates Replacement

I am bit confused; as per excise notification the number plates with serial number ID need to be replaced with new computerized number plates.

Where some reported;
1. that you need to get camera readable number plates for all series prior to ABC- xxxx. means all number plates from 2016 or previous need to be replaced with new number plates.
2. You just need to install original number plates issued by Excise office on your car . Only number plate of ID series need to be get re-issued.

If someone had clear information please guide, since Rs. 1300 being charged for new number plates by excise office.

I was told by the police officer in excise that original number plates shud be used and only ID number plates are currently being replaced...rest will follow in due time...no hurry

Nope need to change all plates before AAA series they are taking off plates off all cars before this series!!!!! One way off making money Rs1300 per plate they give u a slip and collect plate in 15 days

This is absurd. Only logical way forward is to not allow any fancy plates. however normal fonts with properly mentioned allocated information should be good enough.

they dont have any number plate reading machines and RF tags built in plates. all claims by police are false and base less.

logically they need us to have proper number plates and no fancy stuff so that it can be read properly once their safe city cameras take the pictures.

1300 for a number plate set is absurd and unjust.

I am using fancy RLA plates and i travel to islamabad frequently. do i need to visit E&T in pindi to get computerized plates or these plates are for ISB registered cars only?

According to notification

1. Only Islamabad registered cars having number plates starting with "ID" or similar series starting with "I" need to be replaced with a different series.

2. So far, only Islamabad registered cars having specific series of numbers are being called for replacement, other districts may follow soon with roll out for automated surveillance (Safe City) in other districts.

3. Additionally Islamabad registered cars are being issued Vehicle ID Cards (Same as Smart Card, NIC). This will replace registration books.

4. Somewhat controversial move is you have to go through checking line, according to newspaper today. Don't know how practical this approach is, and absurd as vehicles have different city number plates. If only Islamabad vehicles having smart cards are let through without checking, then what about other vehicles not having ISB registration.

5. Anyway new number plates are to be obtained from Excise and Taxation office in Islamabad. 1300Rs per set.

Can you please share the news story about separate lane checking? and although, they're calling only specific series of numbers for replacement, can we apply for the new plate if series is other than that in the newspapers/their website?

i just had a chat with two ITP cops in f7 and they said raid against plates is over. it was there for one month. i even stood there for 30 mins waiting for van and they pulled about 10 cars for issues such as tinted windows,mobile usage,seat belts and most of them had fancy plates. so dont be scared
