Just wanted to inquire, how much time it should take us to travel from Islamabad to Karachi on private car such as new modeled corolla. A friend of mine claims that he was able to reach Karachi in 12 hours on his private GLI car. He says that he was accompanied by few friends so they were able to switch drivers on way. Is it possible with few stops for food and washrooms.

12 hours ? I dont think so.... wud take u about 18-20 hours at least , even if short stops are made they would account for 1-2 hours in total.....

the fastest i ve heard from a reliable friend was 16 hours from karachi to faisalabad. he did that on a mark 2 and oversped almost all the way, though not too much. i ve driven on the n5 highway up to punjab border i.e. rahim yar khan and the traffic is mostly overloaded buses and trucks, the road is also very slippery. i would nt dare drive above 100-110km/h there...

It normally takes 8 to 10 hours at least from Sindh Punjab border to Karachi with no traffic blockage on the way and very short 2-3 stops.

20 hours minimum if u come non stop. your friend must have fell asleep and lost track of time on the way

Bro I have done it many times, 12 hours is not possible even if there was a motorway.

The center stop-over point is Bahawalpur.

ISB - BWP : 9 Hours (Includes small stoppages on the way of about 1 hour)
BWP - KHI : 13 Hours (Includes small stoppages on the way of about 1 hour)

9+13 = 22 Hours.

It can be reduced to 20 hours, but then you will have to take undue risks on the highway, which is not recommended.

being in forces, i have been travelling like a ping pong all over the country many times. the case has been since i was a child as my father is also an ex-soldier. when i was posted in Quetta, i used to make it from here to panu aqil in one day and that drive included me being all alone in the car so no worries of family and kids, so i dint use to stop. i wont even stop for the food breaks, wud only stop for the CNG/petrol refills and wud eat while driving some snacks and all. the fastest i have been was exactly 12 hours from Islamabad Motorway till Panu Aqil cantonment, that too from the shortest route using Islamabad-Faisalabad-Jhang route. distance from here to Karachi is 1400 kilometers, so it means ur friend has been AVERAGING 116 kilometers/hr...lol...now u tell me, how on earth is that possible

Lahore to karachi is doable in 12hrs or 14 but isb karachi not possible.

Maybe he took pia flight which was delayed for 10 hrs n then it took 12 hrs to reach khi lol so he is right isko - khi 12 hrs

Thank you friends, that’s what I was wondering. People are fond of making unacceptable claims and few simply cannot help themselves. Recently done 19 hours one way trip from Islamabad to Gilgit and was wondering that 22 hours trip from Islamabad to Karachi along with a second driver is doable.

In the last 2 years I have made 3 trips to karachi by road on my own car and single driver. It takes 8-10 hours to reach RYK from lahore, if you only stop for fuel and number 1. From RYK kot sabzal is 35-45 minutes from kot sabzal ownwards the road is in bad shape till sukkur and this 160 odd kms will take you 3-4 hours and may be 5 hours depending on road condition. After sukkur karachi is around 300 kms and it will take you around 5-6 more hours as the road is not as good as in punjab. SO now doing the maths the total road journey can be 17-21 hours, taking stops for fuel and number 1. If you travel at night in sindh than increase the time as there is no lane marking cat eyes etc and you are driving in dead sea so max speed you can achieve is 60-70.
All this I am talking about reasonable and careful driver but if the driver is ***** than I know a driver who reached sukkur from lahore in 8 hours and I know how he drives there is another one who says he reaches RYK in 6 hours and he says that they drive at min 160.

bro sukkur to karachi is 470 kilometers plus.....even hyderabad is 350 kilometers from sukkur. i have even done this route on Bike, twice in three days. i.e. going to karachi from Sukkur on bike and coming back on Sunday

Bro for your assistance, this is the breakdown of distances from Karachi to Islamabad.
This is the longer route from KHI to ISB via Lahore.

The shorter route is from ISB you go directly to Multan via Jhang. and you can save at least 4 - 5 hours.

i agree.....from faisalabad, one can either go to Jhang, or in my case, i used to go to Toba tek Singh, Abdul hakeem bypassing multan from khanewal-lodhran bypass and straighaway hit bahawalpur

I would like to add here that just calculating distance with average speed would not work. To calculate more accurately, ground reality factor should be considered as well. i.e. broken/ bad road patches, traffic jam areas (some locations are famous for this in sindh), time of refueling/ refreshment, etc.

I read at some places of people saying it took them less than 6 hours from Karachi to Ubaro. This is my route and I travel frequently on this sector, it never took me less than 8 hours no matter how hard I tried to reach destination at the earliest by driving safely but pushing the ride wherever I can. May be someone can do it but by staking not only their own life but the ones accompanied and also those innocent who comes in the way.

why should i be offended. u r saying the exact same thing as i am. there are 100 factors while going from point A to point B. same person can do a distance X in Y hours and the same person the next day can do the same distance X in Z hours. even the average speed is not linear. in my case when i went to karachi from sukkur, till hyderabad it only took me (me and 2 other bikes...all 3 125s) like 5.5 hours....we were like WOW itnee fit speed mein aa gayay hein, yeh saath hee tau karachi hey, but bro, from hyderabad till karachi it took us almost 3 hours. why ? because there is a LOT of wind resistance if u travel from hyd to khi on the road. even bending down on the bike with tummies touching the tank, the bike wont cross speed of 65-70. on the way back, the same distance we did in 1.5 hours, so much so that the backwind was so much that the speedometer crossed 120, got stuck with the plastic and broke inside the meter and i had to ride in the same condition till sukkur and had to get it corrected from Rahim Yar Khan next weekend

Your observations are based on realities so more accurate.

It had been my dream to travel from Ubaro to Karachi on bike when I was a college student but could not influence my friends to join me in the adventurous trip. So that idea always remained at the discussion to planning department, never moved forward towards the execution department.

My line in previous post " No offence please " that was meant for only those fellow members who could consider me as exaggerating in the post

I am living in saudia. in january, I was going to madina from my city (distance is 1300km) it takes me almost 12 hours. here roads are good as compare to pakistan, only passing through riyadh speed got slow, otherwise I drive at 160-180. so with this speed I travel 1300km distance in 12 hours, your friend can't travel in pakistan 1400km distance in 12 hours.
