In 1985 I was in Peshawar because my father was posted there. I did not have any sifarish, had to visit the traffic office several time and each time they came with some objection, but one day they issued me a motorcycle pakka licence. I was so happy. After sometime a friends father was posted DIG, he asked me if I needed any licence I said ok make me a licence for motorcar and while I was sitting at his home taking tea, his batman went out with the licence and came back with a m-car/m-cycle licence.
Made my wife's licence also through a contact. No bribes paid, no tests.
But I feel guilty doing this. It is really a shame the things operate here in our country. Contacts or money to get the job easily done. Otherwise keep doing rounds of various offices, though the job gets done without bribe or contact, but it takes long time.
