The Motorway Experience
Salam to all. So Saturday I planned a lil' trip to Isloo for the weekend on Ignis. Every auto enthusiast has his/her own way of testing out a vehicle. Out of all the methods and technique, a drive on M2 is my personal favorite if one wants to get a hold of the true potential of the built vehicle. Quite honestly I was a bit nervous as well, because after spending 2 million PKR on a vehicle, it was so important for me that she could handle herself properly at long journeys. And boy, AlhamdoLillah, she surpassed my expectations on all levels
From Lahore to Pindi, I got rain all the way. With slippery and precarious conditions, those bridgestone ecopia handled her brilliantly MashAllah. Never I even once felt out of traction even on bends at very reasonable speeds. Sometimes I felt like pressing her where others were feeling to brake due to the confidence she gave me after a few kms of driving
My speed varied between 110-150 kmph on that route. Because of the wet conditions, I left the mileage readings for my journey back.
From Pindi to Lahore, I travelled late night and got perfect dry conditions with minimum traffic. Road noise, suspension feel, grip, handling on bends and while lane change, high speed stability, all were put to test.
Road noise is minimum upto 150 kmph after which of course starts to gain some. Grip, handling around bends was spectacular for this very compact crossover. Even at higher speeds, never felt the need to let go of the pedal anywhere. Even I, with it's compact size, didn't expect her to behave so well with excellent high speed stability. Top speed was 185 kmph on a straight road. And if it was autobahn, you could easily put a cruise on 170 kmph and travel the whole motorway (upto which you feel completely at ease and in control). This I think is a credit which must be given to Suzuki Japan. I've driven the new PKDM city and Gli on motorways recently and they make you nervous and sometimes even scare you above 140kmph (subjective opinion).
Coming to the acceleration part, this 1242 cc dual jet engine really comes into its own from 100 - 170 kmph. Had a run with Aqua on my way back and completely smoked her in this speed range
Of course, in this engine category, acceleration is not the priority, but trust me, it'll pleasantly surprise you.
Mileage figures were again very impressive at higher speeds MashAllah.
At 110 kmph: Approx. 22.5 kmpl@1800rpm (without ac)
At 110 kmph: Approx 20.5 kmpl@1900rpm (with ac)
At 120 kmph: Approx. 18 kmpl@2200rpm (with ac)
At 140 kmph: Approx. 13.8 kmpl@3600rpm (with ac)
At 160 kmph: Approx 11 kmpl@4200rpm (with ac)
