Japanese 660cc car suggestion

Word of mouth is that the imported (Japanese) 660 cc cars are very frugal as some of them are capable of delivering as high as 20-22kms/L which I have to admit is a very important factor that can lead to making/changing your selection when considering to purchase a low powered vehicle.

I'm interested in knowing which of these 660cc imported cars are capable of giving such mileage and also have their spare parts readily available in the local market.

The following are ones that are currently on my mind:

1. Suzuki Alto (Japanese)
   • correct me if I'm wrong, its spare parts are available in the local
     market?

2. Daihatsu Move

   • this car is being manufactured by Daihatsu for quite a number of years
     now so I'm presuming it is very reliable and would not tend to require
     replacement of parts very often provided the car is well taken care of.

Recommendations and guidance will be appreciated.

Anyhow, what about availability of Mira's spare parts?
(seriously I have to admit that didn't sound very right... tell you why later if you haven't figured it out)

Btw, another good looking car is Daihatsu Sonica.

me recommendation to every close freind of mine is to never buy these kei car orphans, firstly they have incredibly small engines which are not very economical because you flog the life out of them just to move decently.

secondly their parts are scarce and whatever are present are either wrong application or expensive or both.

Best stick to something that has some backing.

We're on the same page really because I too am of the same belief that a kei car should not be expected to deliver the same as a higher powered automobile.
But say if your daily commute is 70-80kms tops, average speed around 60-70kms/hr and just one/two people are to use the car at a time for travelling, then in that case I frankly think the best option would be what we are in the midst of discussing.

Thing is my youngest sibling who will be hitting university soon needs a car and a 660cc car perfectly fits his requirement based on his issues with driving a manual trans car in Lahore's traffic + taking fuel efficiency into consideration.

Cuore was an option at first but not anymore.

Like you said about "stick to something that has some backing".... is the reason why I want to make sure the final option I land on has its spares available in the local market.

Further naked truth like Xulfiqar's will be appreciated.

In long run Kei cars are expensive. As maintainance cost is high. One of my friend had Suzuki Alto 660cc, 2007 which was hit by his driver from front and headlights and bumper costed him 75k from Bilal gunj.

Bro i am Using Japanese Alto and its really good car.
Spare parts are available but too costly.
Average depends on driving style. My driving style is pretty bad and i am getting 13-15km/l which I think is really bad for a 660cc car.
Performance of this car is really amazing.

@hamid : Bhai for city driving 660cc car is a good option. Its small nippy and will zip around in traffic plus u will get decent mileage in city but for highway driving they are not a good option. After 60-70kph with 3 passengers and ac on car starts to struggle a bit and this in return decreases life of an engine.

For all who havent tried,, Kei cars(japanese 660cc) r AWESOME.i hv been using all kinds of pakistani cars small and big and also vitz.as another xtra car ive recently bought nissan moco and its pretty cheap to drive than all others and is as good as vitz in performance.eventhough its not so popular in market ive come to know that its parts r available.u can contact this person for parts in lahore: 03214834076(salman).above all it has options which even new corolla nd civic dont have like automatic dimming rearview mirrors(no glare from headlyts at night) and also hydraulic doors.sick pakistani cars lyk alto/mehran /cuore dont even have efi,that makes them so costly to drive thats y govt banned them.It has efi as well as VVT which gives awesom performance and economy.since they hav more power than bolan(engine is old from 1980s in bolan kitara)they easily go uphill.afterall japanese people r wiser than us nd they build more safer cars than pakistani do.After all japanese govt gave tax leverages for cars below 660 cc and that is y these cars r in greatest variety and biggest sale in japan.time to wake up!

Dear Farrukh,

Can you kindly guide me from where i can get Alto 2008 front headlight new pair. It available for 40k in 'saltan ka khu" in pindi but its too expensive. I can get it from lahore, peshawar or karachi as i have my relatives their but i need to guide them to whome they should talk and contact. Pls assist anybody specially Farruk.

I have suzuki alto 660 2011 model with manual transmission...
You need to search about engines a bit...
Alto upto 2009 has DOHC EFi 660cc K6a engine while 2010 and onwrds have DOHC EFi+VVT 660cc K6a engine. The one with VVT will give better millage as compared to non VVT. Secondly, if u want fuel economy then find a low millage car with manual transmission. It will give u best millage. I am personally getting 20+ . My daily commute is around 60KMs. In terms of parts.. whoooffff.. very expensice as compared to PKDM. I recommend all of u to get ur JDMs insured. I have driven my alto with 4 persons and AC with no problem at all. U just need to put light foot on the accelerator and thats all..
