I think that increase in duty and decrease in age limit if cars to 4 years is still only a PROPOSAL and nothing is finalised.
although I am a fan of NEW cars, especially the bigger 1500cc, but Hopefully sense would prevail and the govt would not make any changes as current duty structure and age limit if 5 years is giving good competition to local assemblers

@asimm76 yes ur right proposal of increase in duty from FBR to customs but its for 660cc to 1800cc cars, cars which are more than 1800cc are cleared according to their Chassis Type which are already mentioned in customs. Will update you on Monday the current situation

DUTY STRUCTURE IS CHANGED

FOR 2007 MANUFACTURED CARS.

No matter your car is manufactured in 2007/01 or 2007/12 duty will be according to 2008/01 so it means duty on 2007 cars will be below:

For 2007 Model cars If Landed in Karachi in September 2012.

for 660cc USD 4400X46%=USD 2024.00
for 1000cc USD 5500x46%=USD 2530.00
for 1300cc USD 11000x46%=USD 5060.00
for 1500cc USD 15400x46%=USD 7084.00
for 1800cc USD 23100x46%=USD 10,626.00

THE CARS WHICH ARE FROM 2008/01 TO 2008/08 duty structure would be cleared on 2009/01 is below:

for 660cc USD 4400x58%=USD 2552.00
for 10000cc USD 5500x58%=USD 3190.00
for 1300cc USD 11000X58%=USD 6380.00
for 1500cc USD 15400x58%=USD 8932.00
for 1800cc USD 23100x58%=USD 13,398.00

AND MY PERSONAL ADVISE NOT TO IMPORT 2009 MANUFACTURED CAR UNTIL AN UNLESS U R READY TO PAY HIGH DUTIES.

I am thinking of importing LC for personal use. I have the following options.

2009 LC ZX as I prefer height control, 4.6 petrol. I think AHC was not available with 4.7 l vehicles.

2008 LC UK model 4.5 diesel. It already has height control as standard.

Can you advise what month of manufacture to go for which is best buy and the total duty plus vehicle cost of the rides mentioned above.

I just want to share a thing, My uncle lived in Japan for many years he was in cars exporting, selling and in repairing business. I learnt from him so many things. Infact I learnt car grading and a bit bidding things from him as well.

There is no doubt these JDM cars are way better then our local cars. Some months ago we sold our Honda Accord 94 model and it was much better then our new local corollas and civics. Guess even after 17 years the car was in excellent condition with original paint, no rust e.g. For sure the previous owner also kept the car with love and care.

To those who saw above pics of many accidental JDM cars and think JDM are crap cars. They are wrong. Our local dealers get lower grades car repaint or repair them here and earn huge amount on each car. It depends on our importers and dealers both which grade car they are getting. Many peoples don't know about this grading stuff and later they accuse and say faalan JDM car is not good or crap and bla bla things.

You can see good and bad condition cars in many pics in this thread. I will suggest to all JDM buyers find a good importer and import your fav car by him or your self dont ever trust on local dealers. You can save lots of your Halaal money too which is not easy these days.

That vehicle is twelve years' old and you have asked just when the allowed limit has been chipped off be a year more i.e. from 5 to 4. Incidentally, I went window shopping only yesterday for a friend's next car to be and I personally hope Sharabhi is able to squeeze at least a 660 cc vehicle for you.

@Saaduk my personal advise not to import cars which are cleared on ITP because due to new duty structure customs didnot make any new list and they are giving around 20-30percent increase in estimate in duties, wait for atleast upto 05th October, 2012.

@vajih102 no dear i dont have any 660cc car mostly i dont import 660cc as an investment point of you because the costing of car is same as available in market and i always use to get comments regarding price that u r selling high as compare to market then why should we import, only 10% people care about car history and auction reports others check car physically.

But if u need 1000cc 2008 F-LIMITED HID Edition Vitz do let me know today i cleared the car and believe me car is scratchless comes with hard original auction sheet as well.

@buddy1717 price for 2007 prius S-PACKAGE is around 16lacks grade 4 or better mileage below 80,000km car is good regarding comfort wise and engine noise is nothing but is it economical to maintain so dear i dont have any idea becuz i can import a car from u but always remember u have to search market that the car which u are going to speed 16lacks is it economical to maintain or not. Means price of Air filter, oil filter, Plugs etc etc. or u can make a thread ask reviews regarding this car and consumables used in car.

the new duty won't hit hybrid badly as they will just go back to prices that were on before june2012 so not a lot difference just lets say one lakh increase in car price so expect 2007 to be retailed in market around 19 lakhs and above 2008 retailed at 20 lakhs and above, good news for serious dealer and business as most investors will now shy away serious professional car dealers will be selling cars expect by october, november prices to go high as the new civic will be launched and then with no availability of cng hybrids will be real high demands to fuel economy if u want to buy a car hybrids be it civic or toyota get them as these cars will be in demand and prices will be higher as they rant cheap in japan or UK either the 4x4 picks vigo will be in demand as elections year so expect them to sell like hot cakes, prices will go up. Word is there aren't many clean or good cars on the market, but the good ones are around and priced high due being in very good conditions most u will find are worst on market so advice if u buy the best ones not the cheapest ones as they are the worse ones.
