Jeep Camp Trailer

Hi All,

I am thinking of making a tent trailer... I have seen few army auctioned trailers but in pretty bad condition... the M415 1/4 ton trailer can be used for this project..

i hav started gathering data on this.. also need input from you guys

btw... Jeepaholics trailer got this idea ringing

How about this,5 second tent for two people.Safe as 10 feet above the ground,And u can do four wheeling which is absent if trailor is Hooked at your tail

nice idea... a roof cage for a cj5... quite practical.. but isn't this living room a bit too high off the ground

but yes lots of loading space for camping trips... a trailer has the disadvantage of being slow to pull... but it would be fun

How is your jeep going..tell me reg the performance of 3ct in your vehical.Are u using Dihutsu Rocky suspention & gear?
I used this combination in my willys mb, how does it performs in your vehical as its sheavier & bigger than Willys MB............... ?

yes its all rocky exept the leaf spring... they are the original late CJ5 ones... late CJ5's and CJ7's share the same leaf spring.

i think ppl under estimate 3CT... this high rev turbo charged engine matches the 3.73 ratio of rocky differentials... good to drive around.. matching the ratios is very imp.

My experiment of adding an intercooler was also successful.. i did loose 1psi of max boost pressure.. a bit of lag.. but an average of 14KM/L on highway and 10KM/L local... no smoke... and drives very cool... no heating up issue at all... all what i expected the intercooler to do

only issue that im facing right now... the steering shimmy... shaking at the speed of about 70KM... nothing above or below that... and it shakes like hell...

im not directly going to replace the steering shock shimmy damper... coz i want to know the real cause...

i think my mechanic placed a wedge like piece of wood to set the shaft allignment... i think it messed up with caster angle... its too high.. result in this death wobble.

i'll check up with some allignment wala the caster angle right now... but not getting much time these days

Hopefully, one day I will do it for me as well ... i have only one thing missing to start this project.. i.e. jeep! lol!

please advice is this type of trailor are allowed on the motor way or high ways in pakistan.by the way i am also interested to fabricate it myself in my workshop.
