Yesterday, there was a loud noise—it seemed like the silencer burst or the exhaust was damaged. I went to a mechanic, and he suggested I visit a silencer repair shop.
At the shop, the person opened the silencer, and the muffler (dholki) was completely rusted. I had told him to replace only the dholki, but he replaced the complete set, including pipes, and it cost me a total of 10,500 PKR, including labor. He also added a clamp/packing at the connection to the exhaust, saying the previous one was worn out.
Everything was fine, and I drove back home. But this morning, when I started my Honda City 2015, I felt a jolt on startup. I tried igniting it several times to make sure I wasn’t imagining it, and the jolt is definitely there. I called the person who did the work; he said we can check it, but it has nothing to do with what was changed or worked on.
I am now very confused. Since this involves the exhaust system, I cannot fully trust anyone—I know some mechanics remove the mesh from the exhaust, which can cause more issues.
Could it be just a loose nut or bolt, or is it something else that happened while changing the parts?
I had this work done at Double Road, 9th Avenue, yesterday.
