Finally we reached Skardu.

It was 3:30 p.m. already so we immediately went for lunch and then found us a hotel.

The day is not over yet Our next destination was Skardu fort aka Karpachu Fort.

Skardu is quite a big establishment which we only came to know once we started our trek on the mountain over which the fort overlooks the whole city The area covered in dark clouds is where we came from just a couple of hours before.

There was no one else there and the door of the fort was closed. We stayed there for a while then decided to knock. Luckily an old man opened the door. He let us in for Rs.20 and went back to sleep again in the middle of entrance hall.

The structure in the middle is a mosque.

The rooms in the fort You can walk over them as well but its a bit scary as on the other side there is a steep drop of few hundreds of feet

In the background is famous Shigar valley. The heavenly corridor to Concordia and World's highest peaks including K-2. Also, you can see the delta of Shigar river which is meeting Indus (coming from right).

These structures were well above the major construction area of fort. We apparently could not figure out a way to reach up there so decided to only take pics
